Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work, we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:
 

Content Strategy

  • Use data & insights to build out a robust content strategy & execution plan that is aligned with the broader AI-Powered Visual Suite company & product priorities.
  • Build a deep understanding of our key users & use cases by content type, monitor user engagement & experience, and identify insights and growth opportunities in order to work with Creative Leads and key stakeholders across Canva to improve our AI content and product experience.
  • Build a an effective and efficient GTM plan to drive user engagement & revenue through AI content and products in partnership with design, product, marketing & other key stakeholders.
  • Build a repeatable playbook for scaling & monetising content types across our diverse user base.

Leadership

  • Collaborate with Creative and Ops Leads to align key stakeholder & leadership to your vision and strategy to drive to execution.
  • Manage, track and report on the delivery, impact and budget of our AI strategic objectives to founders, leadership & key stakeholders.
  • Lead and coach a team of design, product & operations specialists to realise and execute our AI content vision.

  • An experienced communicator who is confident reporting and presenting changes, progress and impact regularly to team members, stakeholders and leads

  • Can effectively project manage multiple projects simultaneously with multiple stakeholders and collaborate well with others to drive progress on goals
  • Experience and confidence influencing and building relationships with senior stakeholders across design, product, strategy, marketing & operations 
  • Proactive approach through owning & driving work from start to finish. You identify the opportunities where you can make the largest impact, and you see it through
  • Highly organised with the ability to work under pressure and within set deadlines; plus the ability to adapt to changing deadlines
  • You have a keen eye for detail, a creative flair, a strong desire to keep learning and you enjoy upholding the highest standards of excellence in the output you deliver
  • You have ruthless prioritisation skills and can make decisions quickly and pivot teams or goals where needed
  • Experience analysing data and insights to identify opportunities and set strategy aligned with delivering impact

About the Team

Sitting within the Content Creative group, the AI Strategy Lead will lead a newly established Creative Content AI team whose mission is to make Canva’s Magic Design world-leading quality. In partnership with Design, Product and Engineering teams, you’ll have the important role of being a ‘Taste Maker’ to help imagine, build, improve and refine Canva’s AI-powered design products. You’ll collaborate with multiple teams right across the Magic eco-system, leading a team of creatives who will be the ‘designers in the loop’ for Canva’s AI products and tools.

We want to ensure our Content Creative leads & teams are set-up for success, and given this, we have a Triad leadership structure, made up of a Design Lead, a Strategy Lead, and an Ops Lead. The triad will work collaboratively to build & deliver against the team's vision, goals and key focus areas. As Strategy Lead, you bring expertise in content strategy, business management (incl. budget, multipliers), leadership and connecting with stakeholders to help us to improve the whole content experience.

Together with the Triad, you’ll lead a creative team responsible for design production, design review, tooling review, and providing craft consultancy and design advice.

We move fast here at Canva, and this role will certainly keep you on your toes as the AI landscape changes and evolves rapidly. We are looking for someone who loves to get stuff done and who can approach problems and projects that come without precedent. You’re who we want to work with if you can balance your brilliant creative streak with ruthless prioritisation and team management skills that move projects rapidly along with a focus on solving problems and delivering impact.
