The Global Data Solutions (GDS) team comprises of data practitioners with diverse data skillsets ranging from data science, data engineering, data visualization and data acquisition. The Global Solutions team within the GDS function, is responsible for globalizing data driven solutions and models, and making sure we use cutting edge technologies to deliver our offerings seamlessly to clients across the globe. The team uses our extraordinarily rich data set that spans more than 3 billion cards globally and captures more than 100 billion transactions in a single year. Our focus lies on building creative solutions that have an immediate impact on the business of our highly analytical partners. We work in complementary teams comprising members from Data Science, Data Engineering, Consulting, and various groups at Visa.

Job Description

As our team continues to expand rapidly, we are seeking to hire a Senior Manager- Data Science. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience and leadership skills in the following areas:

  • Developing and implementing a machine learning strategy for our Global Solutions team. This includes managing the entire lifecycle of machine learning models, from their creation and testing to their deployment and monitoring on a large (global) scale.
  • Utilizing Visa's extensive data assets to create innovative, data-driven analytical solutions. These solutions should combine business knowledge, statistical rigor, and problem-solving skills to address significant business challenges.
  • Furthermore, you will be responsible for extensive collaboration with regional stakeholders and counterparts, in order to build scalable practice globally.
  • As a leader, you will be expected to mentor and guide your team members, helping them to implement machine learning and analytical best practices. You will also bring your subject matter expertise to the team.

Essential Functions

  • Partner with key stakeholder throughout the organization to identify opportunities, understand the problem statement and convince them with our solution design and architecture.
  • Provide technical leadership in a team that generates business insights based on big data, identify actionable recommendations, and communicate findings
  • Use statistical concepts, predictive modeling and designing analytical framework to optimize customer experience, revenue generation, and other business outcomes.
  • Lead the development, implementation, maintenance, and redevelopment of machine learning models, and implement ML Ops best practices. Ensure models are built with scalability, flexibility, and production deployment in mind.
  • Create necessary validation and documentation to support the model approval process with the Model Risk Management group to make it production ready.
  • Collaborate with Data engineers, Data scientists and various groups within the organization to identify areas of improvement, bottlenecks and build automation and re-usable frameworks/processes.
  • Participate in the hiring process to build the team and create seamless onboarding experience for the new team members and continuously support, drive career conversations and mentor the team members.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant work experience in data-based decision-making, quantitative analysis, Machine Learning
• Master’s degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Marketing Research or a related technical field
• Hands-on expertise with modern distributed systems such as Hadoop/SQL or Apache Spark
• Hands-on expertise with Python and other data analytics/programming tools such as Python
• Hands-on expertise in the application of predictive modeling, machine learning techniques, ML-Ops

Strategic and Functional Excellence
• Ability to translate data and technical concepts into requirements documents, business cases and user stories.
• Results-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
• Good business acumen with a track record in solving business problems through data-driven quantitative methodologies.
• Very detailed oriented, is expected to ensure highest level of quality/rigor in reports and data analysis
• Should have strong problem-solving capabilities and ability to quickly propose feasible solutions and effectively communicate strategy and risk mitigation approaches to leadership
• Demonstrated ability to incorporate new techniques to solve business problems

Leadership and Stakeholder Management

• Strong interpersonal skills to build credibility with team members and leaders across the function as well as the organization
• Team-oriented, collaborative, and flexible, with proven ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external partners
• Self-starter who can responsibly own and advance work, take well-informed decisions, most efficiently


Additional Information
Work Hours: Incumbent must make themselves available during core business hours.
Travel Requirements: This position requires incumbent to travel for work 0-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
This position will be performed in an office setting, currently in a hybrid mode (50% time work from office, subject to change). The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
