We are looking for an Associate Data Scientist to be part of our analytics and product development team focused on building tools that will power and advise our clients with the most cutting-edge technology available in the load management, grid modeling and distributed energy resource sectors. You will be an integral member of our agile team responsible for the creation and development of Data Science & Machine Learning tools in the energy industry. 

This is a fully-remote position, but the selected individual must reside in either Arizona, Illinois or Texas.

What you will be doing:  

  • Conduct exploratory data analysis such as statistical analysis, hypothesis testing and statistical inference to identify actionable insights

  • Building forecasting and continuous learning models to help optimize the dispatch of smart thermostats, BTM batteries, EV managed charging, and smart hot water heaters for demand response (DR) programs

  • Coding robust models using Python to solve critical client challenges and develop internal tools  

  • Collaborate with the data engineering and visualization teams for client deliverables   

  • Develop tools and processes on the cloud to scale data analysis

  • Engage with external partners and trade allies to obtain, clean, and interpret data related to all aspects of the energy industry

What we need you to have (minimum qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, management information systems, or related field

  • 2+ years of experience in a data science role (applicants can replace work experience for a master’s degree)

  • Experience in open-source data science languages, including Python

  • Experience popular python data science libraries such as Pandas, NumPy and Matplotlib

What we would like you to have:  

  • Master’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, management information systems, or related field

  • 2+ years of experience in a data science role (applicants can replace work experience for a master’s degree)

  • Experience in open-source data science languages, including Python

  • Experience popular python data science libraries such as Pandas, NumPy and Matplotlib

  • A portfolio of Data Science/ML projects that can be shared with the hiring manager

  • Knowledge of geospatial data processing and analysis, including experience with GIS software (e.g., QGIS) and libraries (e.g., geopandas)

  • Experience with Azure, particularly Azure Databricks for scalable data processing and machine learning

  • Experience writing complex SQL queries

  • Experience with git

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on multiple tasks

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
