[What the role is]
The Translational Social Research Division (TSRD) in NCSS is a close-knit, high-performing, and multi-disciplinary research division in the Singapore Public Service. Our work includes longitudinal/panel and birth cohort studies, environmental scanning and sense making, evaluation at the sector, fund, and programme level, and economic evaluation. We operate in various areas ranging from family and child welfare, offending and rehabilitation, domestic violence, population studies, social service provision, quality of life, and future and current state analysis.

The Centre for Population Studies branch in TSRD taps on large-scale administrative and survey datasets to investigate the some of the above-mentioned areas from various vantage points, including not only nationwide snapshots but also from the individual and family’s intergenerational and life-course perspective.

[What you will be working on]

We are recruiting a Senior Research Specialist / Research Specialist for the Centre for Population Studies branch. The officer will conduct research either as a lead or as a member of a team on various projects. This will involve:

  • Working with stakeholders to identify precise areas in which research output may benefit policy-making or operations.
  • Formulating the research plan, which includes defining data requirements and methodologies to be considered.
  • Producing the research by using statistical software and preparing reports and publications for various platforms. 
  • Engaging stakeholders on research findings so as to achieve translational impact.

The officer will be expected to be proficient in quantitative data analysis, such that he or she can contribute both as team member and as an independent researcher.

Candidates with relevant experience may be considered for senior positions.
