What you'll do...

Walmart Global Tech is seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Senior Data Scientist to join our Transportation Applied AI team, with strong backgrounds in deep reinforcement learning, and operations research/machine learning. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing and deploying large-scale AI algorithms that drive innovation, cost optimization, and data-driven automation for Walmart's transportation system.

About Team:

The Transportation Applied AI team is a highly motivated group of AI scientists and machine learning engineers dedicated to solving sophisticated and high-impact problems that power Walmart’s transportation network end-to-end from vendors to stores. We leverage advanced algorithms in operations research, deep reinforcement learning, economics (market design), and machine learning to tackle challenging problems like Inbound/Outbound routing, truck load optimization, freight pricing and matching, and workload dispatching.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with business operations, product, and engineering teams to understand transportation business problems and design algorithm solutions.
  • Build data pipelines from multiple external and internal sources and extract data insights using data exploration and visualization techniques.
  • Research and explore the latest trends in machine learning and optimization techniques to develop robust solutions for complex business problems.
  • Design, implement, and deploy end-to-end reinforcement learning, forecasting and optimization solutions with consideration for optimality and computational complexity.

What you'll bring:

  • Ph.D. degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Economics, Machine Learning, AI, or other quantitative fields; or Master's degree in the same domains with 3+ years of experience post-grad school.
  • Strong knowledge in deep reinforcement learning, stochastic optimization, statistics, and machine learning.
  • Hands-on development experience with the ability to write production code in object-oriented languages like Java, C++, or Python.
  • Proven track record of building and deploying algorithms/models in production.
  • Experience with large-scale data systems (Spark/Hive) and cloud computing (GCP/Azure).
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects from conception to completion in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of supply chain and transportation operation is a plus.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00

Option 3 - 5 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
