The Opportunity

The position serves as Senior Data Scientist in the Advanced Analytics team in Manulife Hong Kong and reports to the head of advanced analytics HK, focusing on customer, marketing & sales journey using advanced analytics techniques.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced data scientist to join our Advanced Analytics team who will play a vital role in BU level analytics solution development and commercialization activities that transformed analytical concepts into business actions with measurable benefits

Responsibilities:

Development of analytics and data solutions to drive profitable growth on buy/sell journey.

  • Work closely with marketing and other business teams to identify business needs and develop data driven solutions that drive growth

  • End to End development and delivery of advanced predictive/ prescriptive models and statistically rigorous model scripts to support business initiatives.

  • Conduct advanced quantitative analyses facilitating effective targeting, segmentation, and identification of opportunities around cross-sell / up-sell, retention, and marketing program optimization, operational efficiencies and inforce management (policy persistency, underwriting, and claims)

  • Analyze and interpret large datasets to uncover actionable insights and trends that can be used to optimize marketing strategies, enhance customer experience and improve overall business performance and ROI

  • Collaborate with the team and with IT to support on-going Azure cloud migration in relation to analytics data validation to keep data integrity

  • Supporting analytics data strategy focusing on data optimization/monetization opportunities using internal data, identifying external data sources to enrich Manulife analytics data base, as well as supporting data governance initiatives

  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging developments / trends in the analytics space and collaborates with the team to incorporate new ideas in current and future strategies

What we are looking for

  • University degree with a quantitative degree, such as Statistics, Actuarial, Quantitative Analysis for Business, Science, Economics or Mathematics

  • At least 4 years of experience in Advanced Analytics, preferably within the retail financial services industry, Insurance is a plus.

  • Solid experience of delivering Machine learning model end to end, run a complete cycle from data preparation from scratch to final model building and scoring, followed by model performance tracking after the model deployment in production

  • Fully hands-on experience of building generalized linear models and/or supervised ML model and/or Deep learning models and/or clustering,  and/or text analytics/NLP

  • Proficient in both SQL and Python programming and familiar with Spark/PySpark/ Databricks /Hive

  • Familiar with Azure, GCP, etc cloud platforms a plus

  • Hands-on GenAI business application experience a plus

  • Any digital analytics experience is a plus, eg) Adobe analytics, Adobe target.

  • Strong experience in deploying analytics including targeting, test and control development, response tracking and analysis

  • Experience on MLOps a plus

  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to present data reports/ analyses and statistics in a simple and clear way.

  • Ability to think and work creatively around the constraints of the existing business to devise valuable experiments

  • Ability to communicate by recommending implementable solutions to business partners with storytelling and considers change management in all aspects of work

  • A team player with the ability to successfully manage interaction with internal clients and work independently and within a team environment with professionalism and collaboration

  • Excellent time and project management skills as well as motivation to succeed in a fast-paced environment
