We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to collaborate with our data science and engineering teams to build solutions that improve our data center delivery cycle time. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will partner with various teams to develop business requirements to standardize the business input and develop a long-term vision.

Responsibilities

  • Build scalable data assets (dashboards, underlying data models, and workflows) to provide reliable and high velocity decision support 
  • Deeply understand the data center delivery cycle and underlying data to support leadership and stakeholders make data-driven decisions and continuous process improvements. 
  • Partner closely with cross functional stakeholders to build and deliver world-class support and data insights.  
  • Guide business leaders with confidence in your analytics and reporting to ensure smooth execution.  
  • Apply statistical methods, causal inference, and machine learning to inform data center business decisions, and optimize our processes and systems.  
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to increase the quality of data products and support interactions.  
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to take an ambiguous business problem statement, refine the scope, conduct the analysis, and use the results to drive informed decisions. 
  • Summarize and clearly communicate data analysis assumptions and results.   
  • Oversee the lifecycle of analytics artifacts (e.g., models, dashboards) from data analysis, creation to deployment, and ensure robustness and scalability. 
  • Collaborate closely with product development and engineering teams to deploy high-quality analytics solutions. 
  • Mentor and support the growth of colleagues, stay current with advances in analytics, and foster a culture of learning and innovation.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with a visual analytics platform like Power BI or Tableau. 
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in SQL.
  • 3+ years of experience in R/Python or similar technologies. 

Other Requirements:

  • The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • 7+ years of experience in writing complex, highly optimized SQL queries across large datasets. 
  • Expertise in statistical modeling and/or machine learning. 
  • Proficiency with applying quantitative methods to structured and unstructured data for data analysis, pattern recognition, insights generation, metrics development, and scaling reports.   
  • Enterprise professional level programming skills in data manipulation and processing (SQL and Python preferred).  
  • Regularly communicate associated outcomes and insights succinctly to various team members at all levels, including management, to help guide and influence tactical and strategic decisions. 
  • Industry level problem-solving skills to help refine problem statements and solve them with the available data.  

 

Data Science IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
