Responsibilities

Noblis is seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our team in the Bethesda, Maryland area. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will play a critical role in shaping our client's enterprise architecture and driving cloud and data-related initiatives across the client’s organization. Your responsibilities will span multiple areas, including strategic planning, cross-domain services, data security and compliance, data integrity, AI, and cloud platforms, to enhance our customer’s cloud and data ecosystem.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Contribute to the design and evolution of our client’s enterprise cloud and data architecture, ensuring interoperability, security, and alignment with business goals.
  • Develop data and cloud strategies that consider long-term implications, anticipating future needs and trends.
  • Collaborate with teams across different domains (e.g., CIO, CDO, Security) to drive data integration initiatives and foster a data-driven culture.
  • Analyze current and recommend data security practices, including data transiting between differing security level enclaves, to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Analyze current and recommend data structure, tagging, and quality standards, and means to discover and address anomalies in data/data patterns.
  • Recommend solutions to analyze data across multiple cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for optimizing storage, compute, and analytics.
  • Recommend ways to leverage AI and machine learning techniques to extract insights, automate processes, and enhance decision-making.
  • Explore data generated by AI models and recommend ways to manage and integrate them into our client’s data ecosystem.
  • Analyze current and recommend data tagging standards, enabling efficient data discovery and governance.
  • Champion the data mesh paradigm, promoting decentralized data ownership and self-serve analytics.
  • Collaborate with the client’s service providers for identity, credentialing, and access management to establish, enhance, and manage data access permissions.
  • Analyze and recommend ways to optimize compute resources and storage solutions for efficient data processing.
  • Recommend methods to integrate qualitative insights by understanding the context and nuances of the data.

Required Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI with Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree and 12 to 15 years of prior relevant experience OR Master's degree and 10 to 13 years of prior relevant experience; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain. 
  • Proven experience as a Data Scientist, with a focus on complex data environments.
  • Experience with data visualization tools/software (e.g., Tableau, MS PowerBI) to develop and deliver data analysis solutions and visualizations in support of client’s needs and reporting requirements.
  • Strong proficiency in data manipulation and analysis.
  • Communication skills for technical writing and oral briefings.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.) and big data technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Passion for staying up to date with industry trends and advancements.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's OR Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science). 
  • Five or more years of experience working with or in the Intelligence Community (IC). 
  • Experience producing executive-level products. 
  • Knowledge of and experience working with IC policies, directives, and standards.

Salary at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and are based on full time status. Part time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements), and is just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package for employees.
