Meta is looking for a Research Scientist to join its Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) organization, an organization focused on making significant advances in AI. We publish groundbreaking papers and release frameworks/libraries that are widely used in the open-source community. Recent examples include the Seamless family of translation models, the Audiobox speech generation model and their applications. We closely collaborate with other organizations at Meta to bring the latest research findings to production.

We are looking for a Research Scientist to join a FAIR team exploring new approaches to making AI safer, fighting deepfakes and preventing harmful content. Past work in that space include watermarking models such as Stable Signature or AudioSeal. The mission is to develop state of the art algorithm with a focus on open research and scientific novelty.

As a Research Scientist, you will help us develop innovative models and algorithms at the cutting edge of AI Research. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in multimodal modeling, computer vision or speech synthesis/recognition.

Research Scientist - FAIR, AI Security Responsibilities

  • Independently design and implement algorithms, train state of the art speech and language models on large data, and evaluate their performance.
  • Perform research to tackle unsolved real-world problems and push the state of the art in AI security, including watermarking

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD in the field of Artificial Intelligence, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
  • Research experience in one or more of these areas: speech recognition, speech synthesis, machine translation, audiovisual understanding or generation, machine learning, deep learning, or related fields.
  • Experience working with machine learning libraries like Pytorch, Tensorflow, etc.
  • Knowledge of deep learning and neural networks.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and shell scripts.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with developing scalable machine learning models in at least one of the following areas: speech recognition, machine translation, unsupervised/semi-supervised training, on-device modeling, acoustic modeling, or relevant areas.
  • Experience with developing machine learning models for both server-based and embedded solutions.
  • Experience with large scale model training, implementing algorithms, and evaluating speech and language systems.
  • Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by publications at leading conferences such as NeurIPS, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, ICASSP, INTERSPEECH, or similar.
  • Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.

About Meta

Meta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses. When Facebook launched in 2004, it changed the way people connect. Apps like Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp further empowered billions around the world. Now, Meta is moving beyond 2D screens toward immersive experiences like augmented and virtual reality to help build the next evolution in social technology. People who choose to build their careers by building with us at Meta help shape a future that will take us beyond what digital connection makes possible today—beyond the constraints of screens, the limits of distance, and even the rules of physics. Meta is committed to providing reasonable support (called accommodations) in our recruiting processes for candidates with disabilities, long term conditions, mental health conditions or sincerely held religious beliefs, or who are neurodivergent or require pregnancy-related support. If you need support, please reach out to accommodations-ext@fb.com.
