The following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities are necessary for this role:
Experience working as a data scientist, quant, research analyst, or trader in the commodities industry.
A Master or PhD in Applied Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Mathematical Finance or related field.
Excellent Python and SQL skills.
Practical experience developing and deploying machine learning and statistical models in a business setting.
Ability to work productively with commercial stakeholders.
The following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities are desirable for this role:
Experience developing and deploying optimisation applications in a business setting (e.g. linear programming, vehicle routing)
Data engineering skills such as ETL pipeline development.
AWS experience and certifications.
Experience with Tableau, Streamlit, or Django.

Department
The Data Science and Engineering team researches, develops and provides advanced analytics and data services to the trading business at Trafigura. It is comprised of Data Scientists, Data Analysts and Data Engineers. It is a commercially driven, front office aligned team, that works in close partnership with the trading desks, global research and our enterprise technology teams.
Key Relationships
Report to Chief Data Scientist (Geneva).
Work closely with the global Gas and Power trading business heads.
Work closely with global heads of research.
Work closely with other data scientists, data engineers and platform engineers in the Data Science and Engineering Team.
