Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled and innovative Computer Vision Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be leading our Data Science team and working very closely with the executive team in building out our model library, as well as our LLM and RAG architecture decisions. You will be at the forefront of cutting-edge technology, working with customer data to train computer vision algorithms on potentially lifesaving use cases that have very important real-world implications. Your expertise will be instrumental in advancing our computer vision platform and helping deliver maximum value to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • As the Lead Data Scientist, Computer Vision, you will have a critical role in selecting the architecture for, training, and deploying computer vision models that will drive real world results reducing risk and improving operational efficiency for our customers

  • Computer Vision Algorithm Development: Design, develop, and optimize computer vision algorithms for various applications, including object detection, image segmentation, and classification.

  • Deep Learning: Apply deep learning techniques, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and Vision Transformers to solve complex computer vision problems.

  • Data Collection and Annotation: Oversee data collection efforts and collaborate with our labeling teams to lead annotation and help ensure correct preprocessing and augmentation steps for obtained datasets.

  • Work closely with our customer and platform teams to ensure the development of the most performant and high value models.

  • Model Training and Evaluation: Train and fine-tune computer vision models and establish robust evaluation methodologies to assess their performance depending on the type of model.

  • Integration: Collaborate with full stack engineers and cross-functional teams to integrate and deploy computer vision models into different workflows for our customers.

  • Optimization: Optimize and maintain computer vision models for real-time and resource-constrained environments as needed.

  • Deployment: Deploy computer vision systems into production, ensuring scalability and reliability using State of the art MLOps.

  • Lead: Lead a team of Junior Data Scientist, ML engineers to acheive success together for our customers.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or a related field.

  • At least 5+ years of Post PhD, or 7+ years post Masters industry experience.

  • Programming Skills: High Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and experience with computer vision libraries (e.g., OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch).

  • Deep Learning: Strong expertise in deep learning frameworks and architectures, including experience with CNNs, RNNs, VAEs, Transformers and GANs.

  • Data Handling: Excellent understanding of and experience with data handling, including data preprocessing, augmentation and annotation for computer vision tasks. You will need to work with a labeling team to ensure correct labeling and annotations.

  • Model Deployment: Experience with deploying computer vision systems in production environments.

  • Excellent Cloud ML skills, should be able to work on ML offerings of common cloud providers. Have familiarity with Cloud architectures and must having deployed models in Cloud environments before.

  • Excellent knowledge of common deployment techniques such as Containerization, Kubernetes, ML Flow, load scaling etc.

  • Knowledge of computer vision best practices and the ability to troubleshoot and fine-tune computer vision models for performance and accuracy.

  • Experience having led a team of at least 2+ other data scientists or machine learning engineers.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a track record of delivering frontier technology solutions in the field of computer vision.

  • Willingness and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and to learn and adapt to new tools and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and high interest in Large Vision or Large Language Models as well as experience having worked with RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) technology.

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of Post PhD, or 7 years of Post Masters, startup or enterprise commercial industry experience in computer vision development and deployment.

Work Authorization

  • Must be authorized to work in the US.

Education

  • Master’s degree at a minimum and preferably PhD in computer science, electrical engineering or computer vision related field.

Competencies

  • Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively complex technical concepts with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Decision Making: Ability to make critical technical architecture decisions, working closely with executive teams and leadership.

  • Team Mentorship: Mentor and guide a team of Junior Data scientists, ML engineers.

  • Hands On Keyboard: Actively participate in coding and have direct involvement with platform development, not just theory.
