About This Role:
As a Lead Data Scientist, you will be working in a cross-functional and geographically dispersed team of statisticians, data scientists, software developers, and data engineers. You will be building data-integration solutions supporting Nielsen’s audience measurement and planning products. You will be developing predictive models to meet the business needs of internal and external stakeholders in ad and content measurement. You will implement models in production and develop continued enhancements for a variety of use cases.

You are knowledgeable about statistical and machine learning models and can explain them equally well to experts and laypersons. You comprehend complex problems quickly and are creative in finding solutions. You understand media measurement or are able to quickly pick up domain knowledge on the job. You write production-quality code and enjoy operationalizing your solutions at scale. You’re able to shift gears quickly and adapt to changing circumstances and business needs. You have experience working with teams and maintaining velocity in complex projects. You see the big picture and enjoy digging into the details.
Responsibilities

Data Integration

  • Develop custom data-integration solutions from requirements specification and model development to implementation and delivery
  • Build deep contextual understanding of media planning use cases
  • Apply critical thinking to model output and production processes
  • Interface with clients and internal stakeholders to evolve Nielsen’s well-established fusion methodology for matching respondent-level data from multiple sources
  • Engineer and automate model pipelines

Data Quality

  • Define and implement data quality assessments.
  • Perform creative and effective analyses of input and output data
  • Create dashboards with with informative data visualization

Reports and documentation

  • Produce readable code and documentation of methodologies and software
  • Produce presentations of modeling approaches and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders
  • Produce management reports as required
  • Document procedures and keep them updated

Skills (E=Expected, P= Preferred)

  • E: University degree in computer science, statistics, operational research, STEM, or similar field, with outstanding analytical expertise;
  • E: 4+ years work experience in data science and machine learning;
  • E: Proficiency in SQL, experience working with large-scale relational databases;
  • E: Proficiency in Python, Spark or Scala to develop shareable software with the appropriate technical documentation; 
  • E: Working knowledge of bash and git;
  • E: Passion for analyzing and utilizing large data sets;
  • P: Experience working with cloud-based or big data technologies (e.g. Databricks, Airflow, AWS)
  • E: Experience with Atlassian suiteE: Ability to work alone and in a team
  • E: Strong communication and presentation skills, with a keen eye for detail;
  • P: Interested in the media landscape and measurement methodologies.
  • Experience in online media and the ad tech ecosystem is advantageous
