Summary 

Embrace a transformative role as zooplus's Data Science Product Owner. 

At zooplus, we are embarking on a transformative journey to harness the power of data science and revolutionize our business. We look to optimize our e-commerce platform, enhance customer experiences and bring in game changing propensity models. To enable this, we are looking for a passionate Product Owner to lead our efforts to unlock the potential of data science. 

As our Product Owner, you'll play a pivotal role in translating raw data into actionable insights, enabling us to develop predictive models and features that drive business value. Your experience in collaborating with business stakeholders and understanding their requirements is essential for shaping data-driven solutions that align with our strategic goals. Of course, you will also present ideas of your own. 

Your expertise will be instrumental in crafting an engaging roadmap, defining propensity models, conducting rigorous testing and making clear recommendations to the business. To define these, you will explore innovative ways to leverage data to its full potential. You'll serve as the critical link between the business, product, and engineering teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and the realization of our ambitions.

This exciting opportunity is based in Madrid and may involve occasional travel.
 

What will be your core responsibilities 

  • Bring the business and product vision/strategy to the data science area of zooplus. 
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and work collaboratively on projects.  
  • Own the Product Backlog, ensuring what we build is valuable for business and prioritised accordingly.  
  • Constantly look to optimise models and put forward new suggestions to meet the business objectives.  
  • Develop robust A/B testing strategies across customer acquisition, activation and reactivation journeys, amongst many others. 
  • Make clear recommendations based on testing and continually optimise models.  
  • Work collaboratively with all teams in an Agile manner.  
  • Represent the customer and stakeholders in all conversations with clear outcomes. 
     

What you'll bring 

  • Experience acting as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding of your product area and its potential. 
  • You've shipped complex products in a fast-moving business across multiple markets.  
  • You have worked with non-tech stakeholders and know how to explain complexity in simple language to multiple audiences. 
  • Needless to say, you already have strong analytical and strategic thinking skills. 
  • You have experience of working with and presenting to senior commercial stakeholders. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, which inspire cross-functional teams to achieve product goals. 

What we are looking for 

The ideal person for this role should have solid experience in the use of data analysis in a product role. To work together in an optimal way in this position, we would like you to have: 

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a similar data driven role in a fast-moving business. 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an Agile product management role: setting priorities, estimations, definitions, testing and clear recommendations. 
  • Strong experience of problems solving skills and work in a hands-on capacity. 
  • Good statistical understanding and good knowledge of data mining techniques. 
  • Experience with Agile methodology. 
  • Fluent English.
