Builder.ai is looking for a Director of Strategy and Operations to join our Delivery function in London on a full-time basis reporting directly to our global VP of Delivery.

About the role
As the Director of Strategy and Operations, you will play a vital role in driving our mission forward. Drawing on your expertise in Strategy and Operations consulting, manufacturing or other large scale operational role, you will lead the design and implementation of a target operating model, spearhead delivery transformation initiatives, develop training and certification programs, manage resource allocation, oversee governance and performance management, and champion continuous improvement.
You'll be responsible for
Target Operating Model Design
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define and design an innovative target operating model, with a strong emphasis on efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
- Incorporate key factors such as business strategy, scalability, efficiency, and customer needs into the operating model design, leveraging data analysis and insights to optimise outcomes.
- Utilise techniques like Lean Six Sigma and cost-to-serve analysis to identify opportunities for streamlining processes and improving efficiency.
Delivery Transformation
- Lead change management efforts to drive transformation in the delivery process, focusing on efficiency gains and data-driven decision-making.
- Effectively roll out new systems or processes to various functions or the entire organisation, ensuring seamless implementation and adoption while continuously monitoring and analysing performance metrics.
- Utilise data analysis to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities, and implement strategies to enhance delivery efficiency and effectiveness.
Training and Certification
- Develop and maintain cutting-edge training materials and certification programs, emphasising efficiency and data-driven approaches.
- Create a Builder Certification program that not only ensures a high level of expertise within the organisation but also focuses on maximising efficiency in the training process.
- Utilise data analysis to measure the effectiveness of training programs, identify areas for improvement, and continuously optimise the training and certification initiatives.
Resource Management:
- Maintain a comprehensive view of delivery capacity by location, utilising data analysis to optimise resource allocation and improve efficiency.
- Take a data-driven approach to hiring initiatives, ensuring the right talent is recruited efficiently and effectively.
- Utilise data analysis to match capacity with project requirements, improving resource utilisation and overall delivery efficiency.
- Analyse past experiences and data to identify successful strategies and lessons learned in resource management, continuously enhancing resource allocation processes.
Governance and Performance Management:
- Design and monitor a comprehensive suite of internal and external metrics to measure delivery performance, focusing on efficiency and data-driven insights.
- Establish metrics related to cost, quality, schedule, customer satisfaction, and process efficiency, utilising data analysis to drive performance improvements.
- Utilise data-driven insights to manage the performance of teams, functions, and processes, identifying areas for efficiency gains and implementing strategies for improvement.
- Communicate performance issues and improvement opportunities to stakeholders, leveraging data analysis to support recommendations and drive efficiency-focused decision-making.
Continuous Improvement
- Implement a robust program of continuous improvement, centred around data analysis and efficiency enhancement.
- Utilise data analysis to identify improvement opportunities for processes, functions, and teams, prioritising initiatives based on potential efficiency gains.
- Set performance improvement targets based on data-driven insights and track progress towards achieving them.
- Utilise various improvement methodologies and approaches, such as Lean Six Sigma, to drive organisational performance and maximise efficiency.
Requirements
- Extensive background in Strategy and Operations, preferably from a reputable consulting firm, manufacturing, or other scaled operational role
- Proficiency in techniques such as Lean Six Sigma and cost-to-serve analysis.
- Proven experience in designing target operating models, implementing change, and driving continuous improvement.
- Strong project and change management skills, with a track record of successful system and process rollouts.
- Experience in developing and maintaining training materials and certification programs.
- Proficient in resource management, including forecasting, hiring, and capacity planning.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for identifying performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills to effectively drive change and performance improvements.
