Hydro One is transforming its Distribution System to be part of a net-zero electricity system while enhancing its value proposition to customers by unlocking new capacity, improving reliability, power quality, and offering new services. Hydro One’s Distribution Grid Transformation includes leveraging Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), Distributed Energy Resources (including EVs and battery storage), and Advanced Smart Meter Infrastructure for the grid benefits above.
The modernizing of the grid with IEDs has significantly increased the amount of data available from the grid edge. As a member of the Energy Transition Team, you will leverage your background in Data Science to harness this wealth of new data, uncover insights, and contributing to the development of innovative solutions, such as demand management, that address our customers' evolving needs. Utilizing your strong interpersonal skills, you collaborate with internal Information Technology and Database teams, as well as external vendors. Your support ensures that our highly skilled energy experts have the necessary resources and data to achieve business objectives and propel the Energy Transition initiative forward.
General Accountabilities:
Provide data analysis support for the Energy Transition Team.
Perform data collection and analysis, including compiling, interpreting, visualizing data and summarize findings.
Investigate discrepancies amongst multiple sources of data and perform data validation tasks.
Write SQL queries to extract information from the database tables.
Identify and automate repeatable processes by developing scripts for data collection and analysis.
Assist in streamlining data processing procedures to enhance efficiency.
Design and documenting processes and improvements.
Other duties may include writing technical or non-technical reports, performing or assisting with presentations, assisting on task tracking and completion status, etc.

Demonstrated ability to work in a project environment, under tight timelines, interfacing with other experts, as well as customers, field staff and the project managers/engineers.
Essential Experience and Qualifications:
Discipline: Data Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Engineering Science
Academic level: Completion of 3rd year or higher
Work Term Length: 16 months
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data manipulation techniques.
Proficiency in data analysis concepts and techniques.
Experience working with a large amount of data.
Familiarity with SQL scripting.
Requires application of mathematical and statistical knowledge and skills to perform analytical studies.
Requires knowledge of technical writing.
Knowledge of the power system is an asset.
This Job will provide the following Professional Development opportunities:

Experience with SAP, SharePoint, Microsoft Excel and Access.
