Role Purpose

Chubb is looking for strategic and inquisitive senior data scientist to develop and run with data-centered projects. The Sr Data Scientist will use their analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze and interpret large data sets, applying their statistical and AI / ML modelling to these large data sets to find insights for our current business challenges.

We are looking for someone who will support our initiatives regarding pricing, severity, casualty and other LOBs. To be successful as a senior data scientist, you should use data to ultimately inform and promote the company's expansion. Top-notch senior data scientists will assume a prominent role in the development of junior staff.

You'll be at the forefront of our mission to help drive strategic data-related decisions. This position requires a mix of data science expertise combined with exceptional stakeholder management and presentation skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be able to delegate tasks to Jr members of the team and other Data Engineers working along a team
  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
  • Be capable of communicating status, scalations and other issues to managers or directors.
  • Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
  • Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, process optimization and other business outcomes.
  • Develop company A/B testing framework and test model quality.
  • Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.

Requirements

  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets and code development best practices and programming paradigms (object-oriented, functional, design patterns).
  • Demonstrable history of designing and overseeing data-centered projects.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills along with strong communication abilities.
  • Skilled at presenting complex concepts and insights in a clear, accessible way.
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, advanced artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.

Experience

  • Hands-on experience with large data sets for other companies 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent field. Master’s or PhD in data science and use of machine learning techniques is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills; ability to communicate effectively across the full spectrum of internal stakeholders and customers
