The Position

The Data Scientist delivers dynamic and reliable clinical analytics products and services by leveraging internal and external data to enable faster decision making across Novo Nordisk. The Data scientist RWE reports directly to Associate manager Real World Evidence. Uses both internal and external real world data to generate unique disease insights and epidemiological information to improve patient care and support business needs. Drives innovation in RWD analytics by implementing new analytic methods, platforms and technologies to answer research and business questions, supporting data-driven decision making. Serves as subject matter expert on real world data sources, their utility and novel analytic methods. Develops and maintains strong internal networks across functions such as Data Science, serving as a key contact point into the RWE-RWD team.

  • Develop and deliver the most appropriate analytics techniques to address clinical questions and problems (text mining analysis, data visualization, data mining, statistical modeling, machine learning) in response to NNI stakeholder requests that are funneled through RWE Leads.
  • Keeps updated with newer analytic techniques and platforms, and their adaption into the real world setting; implement these techniques / platforms and describe the rationale for their implementation in appropriate language for internal stakeholders.
  • Explores and introduces new data driven approaches to generate business insights to address unanswered clinical questions, driving innovation. Understands business needs; demonstrates thorough understanding of clinical data.
  • Validates, interprets and presents data findings to key stakeholders. Translates data analysis into meaningful story that explains nuance and complexity and inspires action.
  • Contributes to the development of new standards and/or practices.

Qualifications

  • Relevant technical education with 6 years of experience from relevant industry such as life sciences industry or technology research companies. Advanced degree in Information Science (MIS), Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics (MS) or related field (MS) may be substituted for experience as appropriate.
  • At least 4 years of experience working in the Data Science field in a professional capacity.Pharmaceutical industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with longitudinal RWD assets (e.g., HEOR, claims, electronic health records, and/or surveys).
  • Proficiency within Data Science methods including machine learning.
  • Highly skilled in using statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, Python, SPSS, and/or Stata), database query (SQL) or visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) preferred.
  • Collaborative approach to problem-solving and ability to plan and multi-task.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven results producing visualizations for analytical understanding and communication purposes.
  • Experience communicating advanced analysis and models to non-technical audiences.
  • Clear passion for using data to generate insights and enable data-driven decision making.

Global Medical Affairs, GBS (GMA GBS) is an extension of the Global Medical Affairs team in Headquarters (HQ) in Denmark and Zurich, based out of Global Business Services (GBS), Bangalore, India. The team consists of highly motivated medical advisors, project managers, scientific advisors and publication managers working together with HQ, regions, and affiliates across the world. Our core competencies are communicating scientific and medical knowledge on our products to the external scientific community and across the organisation, delivering external medical events including in-house content development and project management and Publication planning.
