Wolt is a Helsinki-based technology company that provides an online platform for consumers, merchants and couriers. It connects people looking to order food and other goods with people interested in selling and delivering them. To enable this, Wolt develops a wide range of technologies from local logistics to retail software and financial solutions – as well as operating its own grocery stores under the Wolt Market brand. Wolt’s products include Wolt+ (subscription service for customers), Wolt for Work (meal benefits and office deliveries for companies), Wolt Drive (fast last-mile deliveries for merchants) and Wolt Self-Delivery (service for merchant partners with their own delivery staff). Wolt’s mission is to make cities better by empowering and growing local communities. Wolt was founded in 2014 and joined forces with DoorDash in 2022. DoorDash operates in 29 countries today, 25 of which are with the Wolt product and brand.
Working in Product Development at Wolt
At Wolt, we’re about getting things done. You’ll probably enjoy it here if you like taking ownership, developing yourself and being around friendly, humble and ambitious people.
The behind the scenes of Wolt is run by an awesome bunch of over 700+ planners, builders, designers and data crunchers. We call ourselves Product+, as we’re the very core of Wolt’s products, tools and platforms. To build our products, we work in over 60 cross-functional, independent and autonomous teams. Teams are made up of a mix of talented individuals: engineers, designers, data scientists, analysts, and product leads. Each team takes ownership for solving customer problems in the best possible way.
Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
We want to have all sorts of people in our team – people like you and me, and people different from you and me. To be able to work with diverse teammates – when it comes to gender, age, ethnicity, life background, sexual orientation, political views, religion, or any other personal trait – we consciously aim to offer equal opportunity for everyone to work with us. This is because we believe diverse teams make the most thought-through decisions and build things in the most inclusive way.
Join us today to build Wolt together.

Data Science internship at Wolt
Aching to put those machine learning skills into practice? Curious to see what real-world data from millions of transactions looks like? Willing to learn how to work with the latest technologies to deploy machine learning at scale? There is now a great opportunity to join Wolt’s engineering data science team as an intern. During the internship, you will be embedded into one of Wolt’s product development teams, working alongside software engineers, product leads, analysts, designers and fellow data scientists to solve business problems in your team’s domain.
Data Scientists at Wolt are working with machine learning for the most important processes and parts of Wolt’s online delivery platform and business operations that affect all the 29 countries we operate in. The work consists of owning machine learning use cases as part of a product development team; starting from identifying opportunities, to developing and prototyping a solution, all the way to deploying, maintaining, and improving a production-ready solution. We use a variety of technologies and tools including Python, SQL, Docker and K8s, Snowflake, Flyte, MLflow and Seldon Core to get the job done, and are constantly looking for ways to improve how our data scientists work. 💪💪
While being embedded in product teams, our Data Scientists have a “home” Data Science team, where they have their own meetings, knowledge sharing sessions, and support. The Data Science team has their own leads who cultivate personal growth and ensure the team does the right things in the right ways.
As a Data Science intern, you’ll be assigned a senior mentor from the “home” Data Science team and will be embedded into a product team together. 🚀

Sounds good? Here’s how to apply
To apply for the internship, you don't need to have extensive working experience — you can prove your skills by completing the assignment we have prepared for you! As effective communication in a cross-functional team is really important, please pay attention to the small presentation in pdf format about your assignment work. We will use this presentation to screen applications, and to decide which assignments will be reviewed in detail. So keep it short and clearly explain to us what you’ve done in the assignment, and spark our interest to look deeper.
👀 The process is easy:
1 - Open the assignment (if you're looking at this through LinkedIn, please check our careers site here https://shorturl.at/awDHS for the assignment). Read through the assignment instructions carefully. When your solution is ready, put it as a zip file to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive (or similar).
Ensure that your submission contains all necessary files (e.g., code and presentations).
Remember to check permissions! If we cannot access the file, we cannot review your solution. Please don’t store your solution in a public GitHub repository, or any other place where it would be publicly available, during the application period. Let’s avoid the spoilers and keep it fun for everyone!
2 - Click “Apply now”, fill in the form and attach a link to your assignment. Also add your presentation and CV as attachments.
3 - Send your application.
Please note that the assignment is a mandatory part of the process. Applications without attached solutions won’t be accepted.
The deadline for the assignment is 31st of January (end of day). We’ll review the assignments and invite successful candidates for interviews early February. If you have any questions you can turn to our Talent Acquisition Partner, Lina Muncyte at lina.muncyte(at)wolt.com. Please note that we do not accept applications via email or LinkedIn messages and any applications after the deadline can not be considered.
FAQ
Do I need to be based in Finland? Do you offer relocation support?
We have our tech hub in Helsinki and we would need you to be able to work at least partly from the Helsinki office with your future mentor and other team members. We don’t offer relocation service for this specific program so you should already be in Helsinki with a valid work permit.
I can take care of the relocation part myself. Can I still apply?
Unfortunately, we will not consider your application if this is the case.
I want to apply; what happens after I send my application?
If you are selected for the first round, you will get an invite for the next step by the latest on the following week the application period ends. We will be in touch with each and every candidate who applied regardless of the outcome. The recruitment process includes the preliminary home assignment, technical interview, and a meeting with your possible team lead. We are aiming to make the decisions during February.
I missed the deadline; can I still apply through email?
No, unfortunately not. Please make sure to apply through our recruiting system by the 31st of January (end of day).
I'm a student/ fresh graduate. Can I apply?
We want to provide long-term career paths so we are looking for candidates who are able to continue with us after the internship full-time. Therefore, we are especially looking for graduated candidates but if you are at the very end of your studies and feel comfortable finishing those while working with us you are welcome!
