Data Scientist III, Product Analytics

The Platform & Service Analytics team leads focuses on using the power of data to improve the customer experience on all Expedia Brands. We drive sustainable profitability by providing analyses that identify and validate opportunities to optimize our scalable platform solutions.​

As a data scientist III in the team, you will partner with our Product and wider Analytics teams in to understand performance of our products. Examples include identifying new success measures, automating elements of our reporting and using advanced analytics methods to drive new test hypotheses.

What you will do:

  • Work collaboratively with our business partners to translate business questions into analytic hypotheses and performance metrics

  • Carry out weekly analytics of core performance metrics with a focus on understanding the drivers of conversion 

  • Understand the interaction of key metrics and their relationship with strategic and performance goals

  • Develop new analytical approaches tied to financial outcomes based on solid understanding of data sources and business needs, including economic, financial, and statistical analysis

  • Perform exploratory analysis to identify opportunities within our Platforms

  • Collaborate across broader analytics teams to define how we embed new metrics into our experimentation culture 

  • Clarify, improve, and automate our objectives and key results in support of various business strategies

  • Develop reliable analytical reports and analytical models to estimate the impact of different scenarios, assisting in the business decision making process

  • Partner with senior business leaders on solving sophisticated business challenges and provide relevant insights and strategic recommendations

Who you are: 

  • Excellent logical thinker with a very strong background in a quantitative field such as mathematics, business analytics, data science, or similar and 4 years of experience in industry or equivalent 

  • Passionate about improving business outcomes through data and analytics solutions

  • Experience creating and analyzing drivers of performance metrics

  • Demonstrated ability to work through complex business problems and implement suitable solutions

  • Able to use and interpret machine learning models such as propensity modelling and forecasting techniques

  • Creative and analytical in thinking with a love for data, to both disagree with and convince senior partners backed by data

  • Experience with large datasets and proficient in SQL and another programming language (e.g. R, Python)

  • Excellent verbal, written and data visualization skills

  • Ability to prioritize among conflicting demands and be comfortable with ambiguity 

  • Sharp focus on results and strong attention to detail

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience.  Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
