SUMMARY

The Data Scientist uses accessible data to create business solutions and streamlined business processes to support the requirements with an IT services/solutions-based scope for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC’s) Increasing Community Access to Testing Program (ICATT).

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Prior CDC work experience is desired.

Proficiency in R/RStudio, particularly for data cleaning and visualization is REQUIRED.

Proficiency in Python and/or Power BI is REQUIRED.

Experience with Palantir Foundry products and MS Suite is highly desired.

Must be able to pass a customer background check for access to facilities, equipment and property. This Homeland Security Investigation requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card) status.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Supports the program team in data analysis and/or writing for scientific publications.

Processes and simplifies data for use in achieving the ICATT Program’s mission.

Compiles and analyzes testing and vaccination data for reporting to support decisions.

Reviews and analyzes the financial and programmatic data to support quality assurance, burn rate monitoring, vaccine administration alignment with Manufacturer doses distributed to vendors, and other analysis as needed.

Uses data to predict and project trends in industry and academia.

Presents and discusses results of data to team, program staff, and stakeholders.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to any training made available by the company.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in Data/Technology, or equivalent combination of education/experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit.
