Your Role
As an Operations team member, you will play a crucial role in delivering world class customer service and capabilities to our policyholders – now and in the future.

We are revolutionizing the analytics space in the Long-Term Care (LTC) Insurance industry via intuitive design, innovative solutions, and creative thought leadership. We have repeatedly shown the value of the analytics team and continue to invest in our growing data science team. This is a new role reporting to the Sr. Data Science Manager in Operations Analytics, who is looking for a data-oriented individual with a self-starter attitude.

Using the latest analytic tools and processes, we are able to analyze our data to provide strategic insight leading to transformational change. To help carry us even further, we are seeking a Data Scientist to join our expanding, problem-solving team, supporting LTC Operations. This individual will harness the power of data to enhance the predictive capabilities on our customers and processes, forecast trends, provide analytical solutions for business partners, build dashboards that measure effectiveness/efficiency, and project impact all while getting to present findings/insights to the leadership team.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Use strong programming skills to explore, examine, and interpret large scale of data in various forms.

  • Develop predictive models and determine the appropriate approaches or techniques to manipulate complex high-volume data, evaluate business problems, and forecast potential future outcomes.

  • Perform data mining and analyzing of structured and unstructured data associated with claims, policy, payment activities to solve complex business problems using advanced statistical and econometrics techniques and leveraging industry cutting-edge technology.

  • Build automated dashboard and reports to monitor operations and actuarial functions to promote self-service culture for business partners.

  • Identify business opportunities and provide recommendations for changes to processes based on trends and data analysis, applying knowledge of claims strategy, relevant issues, and financial goals.

  • Collaborate with business partners to understand their problems and goals, gather business requirements, and develop analytical solutions to support their vision and strategy.

  • Interact with internal and external peers and managers to exchange complex information related to areas of specialization and expertise.

  • Lead and manage initiatives and be able to present business insights to leadership team.


What You Bring

  • Master's or PhD degree in a mathematics, data science, statistics, economics, computer science, operations research, or other analytical or technical discipline.

  • In lieu of a Master’s or PhD degree, Bachelor’s degree in one of the above fields and 2+ years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, and/or modeling.

  • A passion for problem solving, intellectual curiosity, and a customer experience mindset.

  • Subject matter expertise in advanced analytical and modeling data capabilities, utilizing Python.

  • Results-oriented, self-motivated, and the ability to demonstrate a sense of urgency and accountability for business problems.

  • Build collaborative and effective relationship with business partners.

  • Strong verbal/written communication skills to non-technical audiences.

  • Experience with database Rational Database Management System (RDBMS) technologies (e.g., SQL server, Greenplum, Oracle).

  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Databricks, AWS/Azure).

  • Experience with data visualization tool (e.g., Spotfire, Tableau, Business Power Intelligence, Python).

  • Adherence to standard practices and use of version control tools such as GitHub/GitLab.

  • At least 2+ years of experience in insurance, financial services, or claims, preferred

ADDITIONAL
The base salary pay range for this role starts at a minimum rate of $93,100 up to the maximum of $147,800. In addition to your base salary, you will also be eligible to participate in an incentive plan. The incentive plan is based on performance and the target earning opportunity is 7% of your base compensation.  The final determination on base pay for this position will be based on multiple factors at the time of this job posting including but not limited to geographic location, experience, and qualifications to ensure pay equity within the organization.
