Zurich (Schaumburg, IL) seeks a Data Scientist to serve as a recognized expert with an enhanced level of expertise in respect to the data analytics for the internal insurance data and support the collaboration with business stakeholders to understand their challenges and structure an advanced analytical solution to solve it. Specific duties include: scan a broad spectrum of internal/external, structured/unstructured data sources to define the optimal data set for testing the hypotheses; prepare internal/external, structured/unstructured data sets to build and refresh predictive models; support the design, development, and validation of models that are built using a variety of modelling techniques; work closely with stakeholders to support the development of a strategy; work closely with stakeholders after deployment to ensure the impact is achieved; support monitoring of model accuracy; support the development of best practices and improvements to analytic techniques to solve business challenges; establish and maintain collaborative relationships across the organization; utilize established financial systems to track budgets and highlight variances; develop simple business cases for defined projects in own area of IT expertise; prepare draft manuals based on the accepted changes to IT policies and procedures to ensure that they are up-to-date and reflect the new policies; identify existing IT assets for new opportunities, research best practices and reviews and analyze business models to support senior management in developing and improving IT processes and systems; provide specialist advice to address specific technical queries from internal clients and design/develop and deliver appropriate solutions; contribute to the delivery of assigned IT projects; act within a number of complex processes and procedures and use in-depth knowledge to solve internal customer issues or escalate appropriately to a manager or internal partners; and record and report core metrics, and ensure internal partners meet defined policies. Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Economics, or a closely related field of study, plus 3 years of experience in the job offered, or as an Enterprise Data Specialist, Data Specialist, Data Engineer or similar position in data analytics. Must have 2 years of experience with each of the following: developing predictive models; and constructing analysis data working with disparate data sources. Must also have 1 year of experience with each of the following: contributing to data science best practices; and interacting with stakeholders on topics such as but not limited to defining problem, sharing model results, and supporting project lead on matters involving stakeholder management.
