The Bioanalytics Systems and Technologies Group focuses on driving analytics to take advantage of vast and rapidly expanding biological datasets to address national security needs. The Group’s efforts include developing software architectures and systems, bioinformatics tools, and AI algorithms to further the nation’s efforts in chemical and biological defense, biosecurity, public and global health and warfighter performance. Our multidisciplinary team works on integrating data from molecular/genomic levels to physiological system scales, while ensuring systems and data remain secure and private.

Job Description

The Bioanalytics Systems & Technologies Group is in search of a creative individual to expand our data science and biomedical portfolios. As a Technical Staff member, you will be responsible for working with the sponsor, understanding their needs, translating them to an actionable roadmap, and leading a team of data scientists to bring that to fruition. We are looking for an individual who is visionary, has a strong background at the cross-roads of data science and clinical/biomedical informatics, and who can help us address key national stakeholder needs and further the Group’s mission by developing and applying state-of -the-art data science technologies to clinical/biomedical research challenges. Example areas of effort include, but are not limited to, leveraging multi-omics, clinical, and imaging data to provide insights for therapeutic suitability for a range of diseases. As a Technical Staff member, you will be a principal investigator for projects, lead teams, define research plans, and provide technical and management oversight.

Job Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Data Science, Computational Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or related scientific field or equivalent experience in technical analysis. In lieu of a Ph.D., a master’s degree with 5+ years of directly related experience will be considered. Experience leading data science teams focused on AI development in bioinformatics, multi-omics or clinical data.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a long-term vision to derive actionable information from multi-modal biological data.
  • Experience in harmonizing, curating and aggregating molecular, physiological and/or clinical data a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively and lead highly interdisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated skills in scientific writing, as well as development and clear presentation of technical materials to a wide spectrum of technical and non-technical audiences.
