At our Fleet Support Center in Ridderkerk you will bring the results of our team to the next level with your knowledge. At the Fleet Support Center we follow rolling stock fleets in Europe and we advise our customers in data driven decisions to improve the performance and predicted maintenance of a single train and the entire fleet. We do so by bringing together the latest digital technical technologies to analyse train data. Why wait until something breaks down if you can prevent it from happening?

What will you do as a data scientist?
As a data scientist you use your expertise to help us transform raw data into useful information so that we can then advise our customers properly. We have a team of data specialists that monitor the trains via a web-based platform that analyses and displays all the data captured. When you enter our center in Ridderkerk you will directly see the screens on the walls. Your job is to improve OUR overall performance. How can we better serve our customers? What variables do we have to predict maintenance? We know instantly when something is wrong with the train and we are able to understand why and when a failure occurs. This means we can take measures to prevent it from happening in the future. It will be your job to make sure we become even better at what we do! Because of you trains will run smoothly in Europe.
As a data scientist at Alstom you constantly recognize new data-driven opportunities to improve our team and our services. Your duties will be:
- maintaining close contact with our team of data specialists and collaborating with senior management
- analysing train data and apply statistical methods for describing train phenomena
- convert data-based insights into decision-making for our own team.
- participate with critical taskforces dedicated to troubleshooting if necessary
- developing data-driven (machine learning) applications for optimizing fleet performance and anomaly detection.
- maintain and (further) improve our data factory for meeting monitoring and analysis purposes
Who are you?
You have a lot of experience in interpreting and processing data as a data scientist and you can help our team achieve even better results. You have a completed bachelor’s degree in IT, data science, data engineering or similar. You’re an analytics professional who is highly technical.

- You have demonstrable experience as a data scientist
