ICF is now accepting applications for internships and professional placements within its Data Science Team. These appointments:

  • Are paid;
  • Last for between six and nine months (depending on the circumstances of the individual candidate);
  • Can be either full time or part time (with a minimum of 60% full-time equivalent inputs each week).

We are enrolling interns/placement students at a number of points during the year.  We welcome applications from candidates looking for an internship at the end of their MSc, and from those hoping to find a placement within their MSc.

Some interns from prior cohorts have been offered permanent roles with ICF based on their performance during their internship.

ICF works on the key challenges of our times, supporting governments in the design, appraisal and delivery of policies and programmes across a wide range of issues - from migration, security, technology to health, food and the environment.

Our Data Science Team works in partnership with experts across our business, applying data science methods to create innovative solutions for ICF clients in the UK and EU. The team’s work has a particular focus on the application of data science to public policy research and analysis.

As an intern you will support colleagues to help catalyse the deployment of data science tools and techniques. You will have the opportunity to work on projects for a wide variety of clients employing data science techniques to build models, analyse data, and create visualisations.

You will gain experience of working in a project-based, commercial environment, and applying your data science skills to client assignments. Your assigned line manager will provide personal development to enhance your employability. You will be working in project teams to address real world problems.

We have a flexible, hybrid model in which you can balance working from home with use of our UK bases in London, Plymouth, Leeds and Birmingham.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • An academic background in a social science, statistics, computer science, or mathematics
  • Experience using R or Python (we have a preference for Python)
  • Good Excel skills
  • Curious/open to learning (new techniques, data science packages)
  • Good team-working skills
  • Self-motivation and ability to manage multiple assignments (as needed), work efficiently, and meet deadlines
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills

Candidates must have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom for the duration of their employment.
