Seeking a Summer Semester 2024 Data Science Intern currently enrolled in college and seeking a data-centric or technology-centric degree. The position will work within our Artificial Intelligence team reporting to our Senior Data Scientist and will support various projects with exposure to data analysis, machine learning, coding, and contributing to impactful projects that drive our business forward.
Educational background and completed coursework should encompass one or more of the following: machine learning, statistical modeling, data analysis, data visualization, artificial intelligence, coding and/or data engineering. The ideal candidate should also be open to learning several adjacent skills with respect to stakeholder presentation, spreadsheets, and presentation design.
Please note - our internships are unpaid but can be utilized towards credit requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement basic machine learning models under guidance from Senior Data Scientist and VP of Analytics & AI
- Collaborate with team members to design and execute data-driven solutions
- Support the team in coding tasks related to data manipulation, analysis, and visualization including the development of PowerPoint visuals for both internal and external use cases
- Document and present findings and methodologies to the team, and be responsible for one end-to-end deliverable
- Assist in collecting, cleaning, and preprocessing data for analysis
- Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover insights and patterns
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics / Econometrics, Chemical Engineering, or related field with an emphasis on machine learning or statistical methods for data analysis
- Basic proficiency in Python, R or similar object oriented language
- Understanding of fundamental statistical concepts and methods
- Some exposure to machine learning algorithms and techniques through coursework or personal projects
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Python data analysis libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy or similar in R
- Familiarity with machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
- Basic knowledge of data visualization tools like Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly or visualization tools like Tableau and PowerBI
