Summary: IQVIA is seeking an experienced Clinical Data Scientist to join an Advanced Analytics group within the Clinical Data Science department. Work in our team that is dedicated to the long-term efforts of a prominent Pharmaceutical company. Work fully within the environment of the Pharma.

This role is a combination of Data Science and Data Engineering tasks. You will work closely with a team of data scientists and data engineers in a fast-paced, collaborative environment to work on data science tasks and query assistance. Proven working experience in Postgresql is expected.


Responsibilities:

  • SQL Query Assistance: Assist data scientists in crafting SQL queries to extract data from individual or multiple, large databases. This includes feature engineering, where new, model-useful features are derived from database records through operations like summing or counting.

  • Optimizing Database and Query Performance: Develop materialized views and implement indexing strategies to enhance query speed and ensure efficient execution of application-specific queries. Write efficient queries that don’t require materialized view creation when possible.

  • Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain innovative data and machine learning solutions to improve clinical operations.

  • Create experiments and prototype implementations of new learning algorithms and prediction techniques.

  • Data Quality Monitoring: Help establish a robust data quality monitoring framework for early detection and resolution of data quality issues following bulk data loads.

  • Data Mastery Enhancement: Collaborate with fellow data engineers to boost data mastery regarding critical dimensions across input data sources feeding into the integrated data model. This includes tasks such as address cleaning, completion, standardization, fuzzy string matching, and other advanced methods of preparing records and merging them when they are equivalent across sources.

  • Database Documentation Maintenance: Maintain and develop comprehensive database documentation for other users and data scientists.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field. Working experience will be considered in lieu of a related educational degree.

  • Proven experience as a Data Scientist in the areas of life sciences, clinical trials.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL, database structures, schema design, and query tuning principles, and practices. Extensive experience with Postgresql, specifically, is desired.

  • Proficient in machine learning, information retrieval, and applied statistics.

  • Ability to do exploratory analysis on large volumes of data and find key descriptive and inferential properties.

  • Familiarity with Python is also necessary.

  • Familiarity with data quality monitoring and data preparation techniques.

  • Familiarity with the pharmaceutical industry and clinical data is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $106,200.00 - $177,000.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
