About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and strategic Chief of Staff. You will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and other senior leaders to drive the execution of key financial and broader company strategies, manage critical projects, and ensure efficient operations across OpenAI. You will play a crucial role in aligning the finance team’s efforts with OpenAI's broader mission and objectives, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will provide:

  1. Strategic Support and Execution:

    • Partner with the CFO to develop and implement strategies aligned with OpenAI’s mission and goals.

    • Oversee and manage strategic projects, ensuring timely and effective execution.

    • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and communication with Executive team and external partners

  2. Leadership and Team Development:

    • Act as a trusted advisor and confidant to the CFO, providing strategic insights and counsel.

    • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that reflects OpenAI’s values of audacious ambition, thoughtful introspection, and ethical integrity.

  3. Operational Efficiency:

    • Help streamline company operations and processes to enhance productivity and efficiency.

    • Monitor and report on key performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

  4. Communication and Stakeholder Management:

    • Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on key projects and initiatives.

    • Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and communications for executive leadership, board members, and other stakeholders.

You might thrive in this role if you have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree and MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.

  • 8+ years of experience in business operations, consulting, or a related field, with a track record of leadership and strategic impact.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and execute tactically.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage long-term complex projects and drive organizational change.

  • Passion for OpenAI’s mission and values, with a deep interest in the potential and implications of AI technology.
