The Specialized Analytics Sr Analyst is a seasoned professional role. Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and work-flow for the area or function. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Excellent communication and diplomacy skills are required. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams. Involved in coaching and training of new recruits. Significant impact in terms of project size, geography, etc. by influencing decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual.

Responsibilities:

  • Incumbents work with large and complex data sets (both internal and external data) to evaluate, recommend, and support the implementation of business strategies
  • Responsible for documenting data requirements, data collection / processing / cleaning, and exploratory data analysis, which may include utilizing statistical models / algorithms and data visualization techniques
  • Incumbents in this role may often be referred to as Data Scientists
  • Demonstrate an ability to apply curiosity and critical thinking and turn data mining, analytics, and derivative outputs / presentations into coherent business driven implementation proposals
  • Applied statistics knowledge of statistical tests, distributions, regressions, maximum likelihood estimators, etc.
  • Having experience with traditional statistical analysis, graph theory / network science, and the ability to incorporate AI and Machine Learning capabilities including statistical modeling in Python or R, and not limited to random forests, ensemble methods, Natural language processing, text analytics, factors analysis / construct development and testing, machine learning feature development and engineering, etc.
  • Good understanding & hands-on across Financial Crime (AML / Fraud / Cyber / Sanctions / Corruption / Anti-Bribery Risks and Typologies) domain, as well as transaction monitoring processes used to mitigate these risks.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
  • Demonstrate the capability and maturity to work in an individual capacity but willing to meaningfully contribute to team efforts.
  • Have experience in Big data/distributed systems analysis and tools such as, but not limited to: Hive, Spark etc.
  • Hand-on experience using Python, R, SQL, Power BI etc.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills including demonstrated experience or training in written or graphic intelligence product production, and verbal product briefing or delivery

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience
  • Must have the ability to retrieve and manipulation data
  • Advanced analytic ability and problem solving skills to proactively address business questions with innovative data driven solutions
  • Ability to build partnerships with cross-functional teams in order
  • Working experience in a quantitative field, Financial/Credit Card industry
  • Willing to learn and can-do attitude
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be organized, detail oriented, flexible and adaptive to matrix work environment


Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially MBA or Advanced Degree in Data Science / Information Systems, Business Analysis / Computer Science.
