The primary function of this role is to advance the development of our Battery Energy Storage Systems modeling tools. The Battery Data Science Intern will assist in the processing of data, development of python and MATLAB simulation tools, forecasting methods, and data driven optimization algorithms for energy systems in Python. The Intern will be an integral part of the Simulation and Data Science team in a Research and Development role, working to accelerate the development of our software capabilities while supporting new product development initiatives in the field of automated power system optimization.

Essential Responsibilities
•    Develop, implement, and leverage electrical modeling tools in both python and MATLAB.
•    Write scripts and develop processes for managing large sets of battery data
•    Work with our battery testing team to streamline the data reporting process
•    Gather, process, and clean data from production for use in model development and analysis
•    Improve internal libraries to facilitate rapid software tool development
•    Write documentation on algorithm and model improvements to clearly communicate the structure of new methods and implementations, including justification
•    Support tasks outside of job description as needed
•    The candidate must be able to embrace the fast and dynamic environment of a growth stage company, comfortable with adjusting quickly to changing priorities.

Qualifications/Requirements
•    Currently pursuing degree in computer science, engineering, applied mathematics, physics, or related field.
•    Concrete understanding of computer science principles
•    Proficiency in Python
•    Familiarity with using debugging tools
•    Can work independently and provide strong leadership

Desired Characteristics
•    Familiarity with using debugging tools
•    Experience with open-source analytic and data munging software
•    Familiar with large, distributed datasets for high-speed computing
