Job Description

One of our most dynamic and exciting software teams is looking for a Staff Engineer – Robotics & AI, to guide us in technology choices and architecture design as our technology grows.

Reporting directly to the CTO, you will lead multiple high impact projects and drive forward several product and technology initiatives in the field of AI and controls. In this role, you will be responsible for helping the organization solve difficult problems and pave the way on several technical fronts. Your impact is expected to be felt both on the delivery of products and on important R&D efforts. It is also our expectation that you will also help us grow the next generation of AI experts and technology leaders within Vention.
 

Vention being a technology & product centric high-growth startup, this role is at the center of our strategy and execution with regular interaction with the Executive Committee and Senior Leadership team across all functions. You must be a self-starter, possess great leadership skills and have excellent communication abilities. Vention’s engineering team is a group of results-oriented individuals with a delivery focus and demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast-paced environment.

Role and responsibilities                                                   

• Quickly get comfortable with the Vention platform and its various products
• In collaboration with the CTO build, refine and maintain Vention's AI technical roadmap.
• Create proof of concepts for key AI sub-systems and identify path forward for productization.
• Investigate the potential of mission-based AI concepts to simplify programming of machines.
• Own the technical advancement of our AI partnerships
• Tackle difficult and complex AI & robotics problems to deliver our product roadmap and technology stack.
• Collaborate with Vention’s technical leaders, including software development managers and developers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach, delivering value quickly to Vention’s software platform without sacrificing software quality.
• Report on development status and project progress to executive management and act quickly and decisively to resolve customer-impacting issues.
• Partake in the Vention Technology Committee, shaping the enterprise-wide technology roadmap, beyond engineering software.
• Keep up to date with the latest software, AI and robotics technologies.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience in software development
• 5+ years of experience in AI projects with proven commercial use cases
• Experience with JavaScript, Python, and with web development frameworks such as React
• Experience in designing responsive systems (embedded and cloud/web)
• Understanding of distributed system design and the related technical challenges
• A strong ownership of all aspects throughout the SDLC and beyond
• Strong sense of responsibility, to show ownership over full, end-to-end solutions
• Love of new challenges and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
