The Program Manager, Marketing will play a critical role in driving the successful execution of business-critical programs and workstreams within OpenAI's marketing team. This individual will ensure alignment and progress across various initiatives, from setting OKRs and running planning sessions to establishing review cadences and managing cross-functional projects. They will take a hands-on approach in leading special projects and major initiatives, such as special event series. They’ll support budgeting and budget management, as well as vendor selection and agency onboarding as needed. By ensuring seamless collaboration with Events, Design, and Sales (amongst many other teams), this role will contribute significantly to the overall success, efficiency, and efficacy of OpenAI's marketing efforts.

This role is based in San Francisco, California. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Marketing Programs and Workstreams: Set OKRs, run planning sessions, and establish review and operating cadences.

  • Cross-Functional Project Planning: Collaborate with events, design, and sales teams to ensure cohesive execution.

  • Ensure Project and Program Progress: Monitor and ensure all projects and programs are on track.

  • Special Projects and Initiatives: Get hands-on with major initiatives, including event series and other significant projects.

  • Budget Management: Assist with budget management and planning.

  • Vendor and Agency Onboarding: Find and onboard vendors, agencies, and contractors as needed.

  • Empower Regional Teams: Ensure regional teams are plugged in and empowered to do their best work.

Skills/experience needed

  • Project Management Expertise: 5+ years proven experience managing complex projects within a marketing context.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working very tightly with cross-functional teams including events, design, and sales.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to monitor project progress and ensure alignment with objectives.

  • Hands-On Approach: Willingness to get hands-on with special projects and major initiatives.

  • Vendor Management: Experience onboarding and managing vendors, agencies, and contractors.

  • Budget Management: Proficiency in budget management and planning.

  • Empowerment Skills: Ability to empower and support regional teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience in the AI domain.

  • Advanced Analytical Tools: Proficiency in advanced project management and analytical tools.
