As part of the global technical development organization, we are responsible for the research and development of oral dosage forms, at the Roche Basel site. This includes the technical development and optimization of market formulations, the scale-up, development and optimization of the manufacturing processes including transfers to the production sites as well as the development and manufacturing of clinical batches under GMP status. Our responsibilities also include the evaluation and implementation of new drug delivery strategies and manufacturing technologies including process analytical technologies.
As an Intern in Pharmaceutical R&D you will support the Formulation & Process Development groups as well as Formulation & Process Operations in different working areas, such as:
Design browser-based interfaces (e.g., R Shiny or python) for formulation development workflows and engineering models.
Put together a library of best practice product/process development tools (incl. macro spreadsheets/VBA)
Assemble a toolbox for data extraction in usable format (SQL, GCP, data management)
Create interfaces / dashboards for living workflow support (e.g. DataStudio)
Who you are:
You are a student (or you graduated within 12 months prior the start date) in a quantitative subject such as data science, information science, chem-/bioinformatics or equivalent experience acquired in related fields (preferably with a bachelor’s degree) and have an interest in scientific issues as well as operational excellence. Furthermore you are interested in using and sharing your knowledge as part of a 6-12 months (longer stay preferred) internship in a modern working environment.

Excellent software/programming and good mathematical skills.
Advanced R programming experience including development of static and interactive visualizations, especially through the use of packages such as ggplot2/plotly, and shiny. Or equivalent Python experience.
Expertise in data wrangling/tidying with R (tidyverse) or equivalent Python experience (pandas)
Ideally, experience with browser interfaces / webpage design: e.g., CSS, HTML or similar, experience in applying statistical multivariate analysis or machine learning algorithms to scientific problems are a plus. Furthermore, experience in SQL and cloud computing (e.g. Google Cloud Platform) are a plus.
Clear communicator: you will need to understand multiple natural scientists’ needs in terms of IT/Data science tasks:
Ensuring data integrity and high data quality of the data sources. leveraging data science skills to translate their needs into digital solutions
Proficiency in English, German is a plus.
Good time management skills coupled with an ability to progress multiple projects in parallel
