Your assignment

Steering a baggage handling system is a complex task and is largely dependent on human decision making. People master such skills for a long time, and this process requires good number of examples to learn from. We do see opportunities for human-AI collaboration to achieve best possible outcomes. This would entitle ability to fast-forward scenarios, replay back and extract essential lessons and more.

Innovation team has defined several ideas to realize this long-term vision and some of them have been actively worked on. The goal of this assignment is to focus on not yet explored direction and create a digital environment in which people can train their skills by solving different scenarios that resemble real-life situations. We envision it as a game, in which the player can set different-levels and modes. The player can play or let AI play. At each step, ask for possible actions and reasoning behind. How would such an AI player be defined and evolve over time? How can we scale up such idea to multiple players?

Vanderlande has a rich set of simulation models and operational data, which we foresee as an input for this assignment. As with any innovation idea we aim to explore feasibility and measure how much value it brings.
