The Team: 

The successful candidate will be a member of the Risk & Compliance Department, a control function for S&P Global Ratings. The team supports risk mitigation and maintenance of a strong control environment to promote the analytical rigor and quality of S&P’s Ratings, Research, other products and compliance with global regulations, as the organization expands its use of Generative AI tools.

The Impact:

The Global Risk & Compliance Department, in partnership with business leadership, manages risk and promotes compliance across the business globally. This role is at the forefront of adapting risk management and controls to Generative AI use and specifically in the use in credit analysis and reporting.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic Risk & Compliance department empowering S&P Global Ratings’ to meet the demands of a changing regulatory framework and to identify and manage emerging risks. This role presents the opportunity to provide valued advice and support strategies to senior business leaders and operational managers to manage risk and enhance internal controls. 


Responsibilities:

The role of the Generative AI Monitoring Analyst is to monitor the performance and use of Generative AI tools within S&P Global Ratings and to identify risks involving AI use.  The Generative AI Monitoring Analyst will participate in risk-based activities, including reviewing large data sets and developing tests and tools to detect unusual or problematic performance or use.  They will then work with other control team members to investigate findings.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Assess the adequacy of controls over the operation of Generative AI tools and models and monitor the integrity of structured and unstructured data from internal and external sources used in Generative AI tools and models.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of AI tools and risks, with the ability to gain a working knowledge of S&P’s relevant tools. Also assist in the generation and preparation of metrics and reporting on AI-generated data input/output.

  • Help evaluate whether Generative AI tools are performing as expected and that their uses remain as intended.

  • Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of the governance of AI tools from development to operation and subsequent revisions.

  • Coordinate with global offices to ensure data analyses and reports are available to all relevant stakeholders and is treated in a consistent manner.

  • Assist with planning, organizing, executing, and documenting all activities. Conduct ad-hoc research as required.

What We’re Looking For: 

  • BA or BS degree in a business or financial engineering field.

  • Good knowledge of financial markets, corporate financial analysis terminology and financial data. An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 2-3 years’ experience working in or supporting financial services.

  • Knowledge of automation techniques.

  • Knowledge of Excel to contribute to the oversight of development and use of tools that analyze AI used in credit analyses. 

  • Understanding and keen interest in data mining, data warehousing, and data mapping.

  • Knowledge of programming languages, such as Python or proficiency with VBA would be an advantage.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems in a timely and insightful manner.

  • Experience working across various stakeholder groups and advisors from Compliance and Risk to senior Analytical Managers.

  • The ability to be flexible and adaptable with a strong customer focus.

Compensation/Benefits Information:

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $70,300.00 to $139,800.00. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.
