We are looking for an ESG Specialist to come and join Nordea Life & Pension’s (NLP’s) Responsible Investments team, which is executing on and supporting other units’ implementation of NLP’s  ambitious ESG agenda.

About this opportunity

As the ESG Specialist, you will be part of the Nordic Sustainability and Responsible Investments Team, which is responsible for continuously developing and executing on the strategy, support implementation of the markets and report on progress. This team is mandated to advance the ESG agenda in close collaboration with NLP’s Chief Investment Officers and other key staff groups. The role is located in the NLP Capital and Investment unit, and you will report to Sara Nordbrand, Nordea Life & Pension’s Head of Sustainability and Responsible Investments.

This role comes with a unique opportunity to be part of developing the ESG work across asset classes and thereby supporting wider industry change.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to areas such as:

  • Project management of strategic and operational ESG initiatives
  • Work related to ESG governance and reporting
  • Evaluations of, and engagement with, asset managers and funds that we select
  • Development of performance and impact measurements, and data management
  • Participation in various collaborative internal and external initiatives

The position can be based in any of the Nordic capital cities.

Your experience and background:  

  • Robust ESG competence, with at least 3 years of experience working with sustainability and ESG in the financial industry or for a consultancy firm
  • Academic degree in sustainability, environmental management, finance or other relevant field (M.Sc. or equivalent)
  • Knowledge about regulatory and reporting frameworks such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, net-zero frameworks for financial institutions, SFDR, CSRD, and the EU Taxonomy
  • Proven track record of successful cross-functional project management and a strong ability to work in a dynamic stakeholder environment
  • Strong communication skills with fluent proficiency in English (both written and spoken)
