POSITION SUMMARY:

Nestlé Purina PetCare Company invites you to apply for the Summer 2024 Data Science Internship 12-week program.  You’ll be a part of the data and analytics team at Nestlé Purina Petcare in a group known as “thehive”.  This group is a business function that has a deep expertise in data analytics that is helping transform the way the organization leverages data.

As an Intern Data Scientist, you will be responsible for helping the team to rapidly deliver analytical solutions to functional areas of the business such as Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, etc. Through Microsoft Azure, you will help deliver insights to both Product Owners and Product Users. You will collaborate with functional business domain experts, as well as other analytics practitioners (Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Platform Engineers, Solution Developers, etc.) to execute and deliver working solutions to end users. Working as a member of thehive, you will use data science and machine learning techniques to help drive deep data analysis and uncover insights that will enable the business to make strong and strategic decisions delivering actionable business value.

  • Utilizes analytical, statistical, and programming skills to understand how possible analytical techniques align to business questions and challenges across the Purina enterprise
  • Models statistical and analytical solutions to business challenges using diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive techniques by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting large data sets
  • Works with functional business partners to fully understand their data and enable insight discovery
  • Visualizes and communicates insights using visualization tools such as Power BI
  • Participates in the end-to-end lifecycle of analytics and data projects through the use of DevOps, code and model management, CI/CD and other industry standard practices that enable analytics at scale
  • Prepares data for analysis using Azure technologies such as Azure Data Bricks, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Machine Learning

Requirements

  • Either obtained a Master’s degree or higher in Data Science, Data Engineering or related field OR are currently in a Master’s Degree Program in Data Science, Data Engineering, or related field with an expected December 2023, May 2024, or May 2025  graduation date
  • 6 months of professional or academic experience building, training, and testing machine learning models based on data
  • 6 months of professional or academic experience analyzing, investigating, and exploring data to derive actionable insights
  • 6 months of professional or academic experience using Python and relevant libraries

Preferred

  • Experience working with Version Control such as Git
