Job Description

What we expect of you, day to day:

The Data Scientist is a key member of the Data Science Hub team supporting Europe. As a Data Scientist, you will be accountable for the design & development of proof of concepts, data products & data assets for the purpose to sell it to Visa’s external clients in Europe. In this role, you will work collaboratively with Visa Consulting & Analytics function (VCA- Visa Consulting & Analytics), Data Solutions team, Data Engineers, Data Product Go to Market teams. You will be responsible for designing cutting edge data solutions and best practices to drive business performance with a clear commercial ‘value’ and measurable ‘return’.

You will be at the forefront of leading new and existing data driven products for our clients in Europe.  You will have key accountabilities within the team responsible for development, launch and scaling of data products that help leverage one of the deepest, most exciting consumer payments datasets anywhere in the world to help grow our clients’ businesses.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Applies data science techniques that can be used to enhance client profitability
  • Creates and delivers powerful business-centric insights from data
  • Works with VCA consultants to drive data science business development opportunities
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to fully understand business requirements and desired business outcomes 
  • Defines and executes detailed scope and methodology for data science projects
  • Ensures project delivery within timelines
  • Enhances existing solutions and approaches by promoting new methodology and best practices in data science field 
  • Provides subject matter expertise and quality assurance of complex data science projects
  • Automates processes/codes

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

  • Min. 3+years hands-on experience in data analytics / data science
  • Fluency in Python and SQL is a must
  • Must be able to analyze and interpret data and to critically evaluate information gathered from different sources.
  • Graduate or master’s degree in quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Operational Research, Computer Science, Economics, or engineering or equivalent experience
  • Results oriented with strong analytical, consultative and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
  • Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently, as well as a part of
    a culturally diverse team
  • Fluent in English
  • Good understanding of Payments and Banking Industry including Merchants, Small business and Acquiring business would be a plus
