You help build the Data Analytics Services based on a combination of AWS and open-source tools, ensuring that your colleagues can hunt for data wherever and whenever they want. With a few clicks, the PostNL data is gathered for data science and AI purposes, seamlessly fitting into the data experts' user experience and journey, while ensuring it is auditable, compliant, and secure.
Visible impact: You will build platforms that enables data virtualization (on e.g. own Data Lake and data warehouses or external sources), exploration, and operationalization for diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analytics. It helps approximately 50 federated Data Scientists, analysts, and consultants so they can hunt for the right data.
Challenge: You are building a self-service platform where data scientists with little or no engineering experience should be able to deploy and manage models and data. MLOPS is new to the organization and therefore requires a lot of guidance.
Good atmosphere: You work together with colleagues who dare to seize opportunities and help each other move forward..
Hybrid work environment: You will work at home and in a flexible workplace in our vibrant, ultra-modern office in the historic building Stationspostgebouw (next to station Holland Spoor). On Tuesdays, we meet with the team in the office.
Driving Innovation: With the rapidly evolving world of AWS engineering, Data Science, and AI, you will need to innovate swiftly. Prioritizing the trial and testing of new technologies, you will ensure our solutions remain cutting-edge and effective.
Every quarter we have a innovation sprint in which we try out new technologies and work out PoCs.
Strong Data Science and Engineering Communities: You will join active Data Science and Engineering Communities in which you monthly meet, share knowledge and working overlapping projects.
As a Cloud Engineer, you will develop our end-to-end Data Analytics Services and deploy CDK-based AWS infrastructure centered around SageMaker. The infrastructure is primarily developed in TypeScript. Additionally, you'll develop and maintain a user-friendly SageMaker Python wrapper for data scientists. You will work closely with them to provide the right tools for scalable machine learning, Operations Research, and AI models. Your expertise will be at the core of data science, impacting our primary processes.
Your role will be essential in expanding and bringing maturity to the platform. Leveraging your software engineering expertise and the latest AWS Serverless components, you will devise smart solutions to address challenges in the adoption of the self-service platforms. In our Data domain, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and optimizing our data and algorithm infrastructure. You'll have ample focus time while also participating in development and design sessions with other engineers. Your efforts will maximize platform value by evaluating solutions for performance and cost efficiency. You will approach challenges from a technical perspective, ensuring stability, scalability, security, innovation, adoption, and usability.
You will join the Data Analytics Services team, an international group consisting of a Product Owner, Scrum Master, and six Engineers. This team of passionate and driven professionals challenges each other daily and works in an agile way to develop efficiently and effectively. They push the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of data and cloud engineering. We like to learn and innovate, trying new things while developing. While we take our work seriously, we also believe in maintaining a positive and enjoyable work environment. Achieve your goals while having fun with a team that knows how to balance hard work with a sense of humor.
A position full of innovation and work that you will literally see on every street in the Netherlands. At PostNL, we want to grow into the logistics e-commerce platform of the future. So that we deliver special moments even smarter, faster, and better. You can count on a great benefits package.
The top benefits of your position are:
You made your first steps (3 years relative work experience) as a backend developer in AWS Serverless technology (CDK, SageMaker are plus) in a data-driven platform team. Therefore, developing code in Python and TypeScript is common knowledge for you. We integrated DevSecOps and Scrum, so you know the automation of the build, test, and deployment processes, as well as the agile practices of Scrum. You can ensure platform (engineering) standards are applied by enabling the right data and user access layout, adhering to privacy and security standards and policies, enabling monitoring of models, evaluating and selecting technological components, all while keeping the customer in mind.
