Sr. Principal II Data Science Engineer

At Sabre, we’re passionate about building software that solves problems. In this role you will plan, design, develop and test software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products including cloud-based or internet-related tools. 
 
 

Role and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead design on the new AI/ML capabilities for applications across Sabre portfolio. Ensure high quality of the algorithms used for solving retail problems. Support models evaluation with experimentation and monitoring of the quantifiable KPIs proving the value of the proposed solutions. 

  • Collaborate with the Product teams on defining business requirements. Ensure understanding of customer objectives and pain points. Estimate TAM and ROI for the proposed capabilities. Clearly define deliverables and manage through the project with appropriate planning, tracking, and reporting. 

  • Support the Commercial teams in the Go-to-market process. AI/ML capabilities are complex and require active participation of Data Scientists in their sale and adoption in practice. The role requires enablement of the Sales and Delivery organizations and support for the Customer engagements. 

  • Form and lead the team of Data Scientists at Sabre Labs supporting retail applications. Developing expertise in Data Science applied to Travel Retailing requires several years of dedicated learning and practicing. Building a highly productive team would greatly benefit Sabre over a long term and differentiate us form competition. 

Qualifications and Education Requirements: 

  • Deep understanding of the retailing processes in the travel industry. Practical experience of working with advanced technology systems in airlines, hotels, travel agencies or vendors, supporting such processes. 

  • Theoretical knowledge of mathematical algorithms applied to retailing problems in the travel industry and extensive experience of application and adoption of these algorithms in practice. 

  • Established reputation in the academic and industry communities. Participation in the industry forums, such as meetings organized by PODS, AGIFORS, ATPCO, IATA, etc. Personal network within the community or researchers and developers working on advanced decision support systems for retailing in the travel industry. 

  • Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts with business audiences. Experience of successful engagements with Executive Management, Buyers and Users of systems on the Customer side, Internal teams from commercial and engineering domains. 

  • Track record of mentoring junior team members and managing Data Science professionals through all stages of R&D projects. 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or computer Engineering or equivalent
