Position Details:

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Grainger you will design, deploy, and maintain workflows and APIs serving ML models for entity resolution, geospatial informatics, and LLM digital assistants. Reporting to a Manager of Applied Machine Learning, you will serve as an embedded resource in production-critical projects with machine learning components. This position can be fully remote, or a hybrid work environment based in either downtown Chicago or Lake Forest, Illinois

 

Pay:

This position is salaried and will pay between $127500 - $196350 with a target bonus of 10%.

The range provided is a guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. Other factors that are involved in offer decisions include, and are not limited to: a candidate's experience, qualifications, geographical area, and internal equity of the team.

 

You Will:

  • Use Python, Snowflake, Kubernetes, Airflow and/or Databricks to host and orchestrate a variety of machine learning models and applications. 
  • Collaborate with Applied Machine Learning Scientists to deploy new models and monitor and manage change of existing models. 
  • Participate in ML model development including experimentation, design, and feature engineering. 
  • Promote engineering best-practices in the Applied Machine Learning organization, such as: unit/integration tests, CI/CD, documentation, drift monitoring, and model version management. 
  • Maintain production-critical components of an enterprise customer information management system, working closely with Data/Software Engineers and business partners.  
  • Collaborate with solutions architects and business partners to align on SLOs and data contracts for new workflows and services. 
  • Communicate clearly and frequently with business partners and stakeholders. 

 

You Have:

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or Physics. 
  • 3+ years of experience in Data Science and/or ML/Data/Software Engineering 
  • Deep knowledge of the standard scientific Python stack, advanced SQL, and GPU computing via tensorflow, torch, or similar. 
  • Experience translating mathematical concepts into performant code, complete with automated tests. 
  • Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, Airflow, CI/CD tools and one or more major cloud providers.
