Grainger, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Applied Machine Learning Scientist in Lake Forest, IL with the following requirements: Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 3 years related experience. Prior experience must include: Develop computer vision models for industrial or manufacturing applications using model training techniques like Few-shot, zero-shot, transfer learning and Deep Metric Learning; Conduct research using quantitative and qualitative methods, which can enhance organization's robotics and intelligent capabilities by identifying new technologies, tools, and techniques including SLAM, LIDAR and multimodal sensing technologies, object detection, tracking, and behavior understanding in a network of cameras setup, and 3D vision and point-cloud; Fine tune Natural Language Processing (NLP) models with transformer architecture and Large Language Models (LLM) using large pools of textual data for custom applications like Clustering, Intent Prediction, Knowledge Graph, Multi-Modal Search, Text Summarization and Generation; Build machine learning pipelines from brainstorming, prototyping, and creating scalable, efficient, and automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation and deployment using cloud machine learning platforms like AWS Sagemaker and Databricks; Lead and mentor team members to deliver high-quality AI/ML solutions and collaborate with business stakeholders to understand the problem space, identify the opportunities, and translate business problems into technical solutions using machine learning frameworks and advanced data science toolsets like Keras, Tensorflow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn, Airflow and Spark; Manipulate high-volume, high-dimensionality data from multiple sources, visualize patterns, anomalies, relationships, and trends, performing feature engineering and selection, and effectively manage and analyze the organization’s data, contributing to better decision-making and strategic planning using Python, Pyspark, SQL, SparkSQL, shell commands and other programming tools.
