The Avionics Summer Engineering Project Program (SEPP) is our elite summer studentship established in 1995. Business relevant projects from various directorates are selected to support research, on campus partnerships, and introduce students to engineering rigor and challenges. During the summer, interns will work with their manager and technical mentor to defined a project plan and reach scoped milestones.

 This SEPP summer internship project will be focused on proving out technology to significantly enhance the capabilities of the Avionics Systems Test environment.   The candidate selected will be involved with the development of a developer aid that takes in user prompts and advises the end-user on requirements and test artifacts that represent optimized test scenarios to more robustly verify the operation of avionics systems.  Be part of designing the future of how Avionics Systems are validated!  You will be part of a multi-disciplinary group of designers developing a systems automation verification approach leveraging AI/ML (Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning) technologies, Large Language Models (LLM), and Chaos Testing. 

Skills you will learn:  

  • Interacting with customers to define/capture pipeline and tooling requirements 

  • Research and implementation of technologies to enable the adaptation of Large Language Models to Avionics verification environments 

  • Integration of existing frameworks for Computer Vision, Chaos Engineering, DevOps 

  • Prototyping and demonstration of prototyped solutions 

  • Engineering documentation   

  • Contributing to the preparation and delivery of technical briefings to customers and upper management.  

  • Effective time management and ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.  

Basic Qualifications

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access the information under this program/contract

  • Experience with extracting, transforming and loading large amounts of data  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's student highly preferred

  • Experience with using vector databases for Large Language Models (LLM) 

  • Experience with developing complex software in languages such as C/C++, Python 

  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 of above

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.
