About the role 

We are looking for curious, analytical individuals with a passion for the power of data to join our iptiQ Americas Data Science & Analytics team.  

The ML Engineer will contribute to the success of iptiQ Americas by using predictive modeling, artificial intelligence, and machine learning techniques to create innovative solutions across insurance value chain components. Responsibilities include all or some of the following: 

  • Download and distill large sets of data (structured & unstructured) into insights to support different areas of the organization
  • Develop and deploy AI/ML solutions to identify new opportunities and improve business outcomes
  • Design predictive models that allow the business to anticipate what is coming and react accordingly
  • Communicate patterns and trends in the data to non-technical audiences in a clear and concise way that supports smart decision-making
  • Deliver results by managing junior analysts, supporting processes, and driving end-to-end analysis from conception to implementation of potential solutions

About the Data Science & Analytics team 

iptiQ Americas DS&A team provides analytics services to business stakeholders across  insurance value chain components including generating business insights, developing predictive models and provide strategic recommendation to drive profitable business growth.

About You

As a member of iptiQ America's Data Science & Analytics team, you will help to influence, shape, and optimize business strategy and operations. The team strives for "best in class" data, analytics, and application practices in Swiss Re and in the insurance industry.   

Must Have:

  • At least 5 years of experience in predictive modeling is required
  • Proven expertise in Al-relevant fields, ideally for 2+ years, in working with LLMs and deep learning.
  • Experience with Supervised, Unsupervised and Reinforcement Learning is ideal
  • Conceptual skills to understand and characterize business needs, and to design tailored analytical solutions.
  • Capable of explaining technical topics with clarity and effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with ML libraries like TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with databases and SQL strongly preferred  
  • Familiarity with ML libraries like TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc.
  • BA/BS degree in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Econometrics, Psychology, Engineering, Computer Science or other quantitative discipline is preferred
  • Insurance industry experience is a plus (not required)

 Ancillary Requirements 

  • Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance

Please note: All of our opportunities are based on working in a hybrid setting. 3 days in office, 2 days remote.

For Armonk, NY, the estimated base salary range for this position is $136,000 to $216,000.  The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget.  At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
