Senior Engineering manager (Data, AI/ML)

In this role as senior engineering manager on the Global Data and Analytics (GDA) team, you will spearhead our Data, AI and ML initiatives, overseeing a team of talented engineers and data scientists to develop and deploy innovative data products that drive strategic advantage and operational efficiency. This role involves strategic planning, research and development, cross-functional collaboration, and staying at the forefront of Data and AI/ML technologies and trends. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in Data, AI/ML, proven leadership skills, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value.

You will be partnering with product managers and engineering counterparts to develop scalable solutions following industry best-practices. You will be empowered to take ownership of your domain and we expect you to proactively contribute to identifying opportunities and solutions.

You should have demonstrated ability to make sense out of large, integrated datasets, build statistical/ML/DL models using these data sets and productionizing these as commercial products.

Strategic leadership: Develop and execute the strategic vision for the Data Engineering and AI/ML teams. Align data initiatives with company business goals and objectives; Proven ability to lead and inspire teams with strong coaching skills Delivery of Technical Projects with Bias for Action: Lead the end-to-end delivery of technical projects, while maintaining high standards of engineering excellence. Demonstrate a bias for action by proactively identifying and mitigating risks, making swift and effective decisions; Cultivate a results-oriented culture that emphasizes accountability and continuous improvement. Talent Management: Promote high levels of engagement and collaboration; Actively seek and address team feedback to become a high performing team; Conduct regular performance reviews and oversee performance improvement plans. Drive Engineering excellence: Drive engineering excellence by setting high standards for code quality, system design, and technical innovation. Implement robust processes for code reviews, testing, and continuous integration to ensure the delivery of reliable and scalable solutions. Drive Operational Excellence: Implement best practices to improve operational efficiency by adhering to industry standards and continuously seeks ways to optimize workflows and reduce bottlenecks. Stakeholder management: Build strong relationships with key stakeholders (Product managers, Partner Tech teams, etc) to create opportunities for the team to showcase and engage with senior leadership, and other cross-functional teams

Key Skills:

Technical Expertise in AI/ML and Data Engineering

• Proficiency in Data Engineering, Data modeling, Visualization [Backend for Front end]
• Proficiency in AI/ML, Deep learning, NLP and LLM (any 1 skill)
• Expertise in System design, Architecture and productionizing Scalable solutions using CI/CD/CT.

Problem-Solving and Analytical Thinking

• Strategic problem solving: Demonstrate the ability to approach complex problems strategically, breaking them down into manageable components and identifying the root causes. Develop and implement effective solutions that address both immediate issues and long-term challenges
• Data driven decision making: Exhibit strong analytical thinking by leveraging data to make informed decisions.
• Critical thinking and innovation: Encourage team members to question assumptions, explore alternative approaches, and think creatively to solve problems.

Software Engineering Skills

• Code Quality and Review: Strong emphasis on writing clean, maintainable code and conducting thorough code reviews.
• DevOps and MLOps: Familiarity with DevOps practices and MLOps for seamless model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Coding Proficiency: Proficient in atleast one programming languages commonly used in ML and AI, such as Python or TensorFlow or PyTorch, and related frameworks

Basic qualifications

BSc/MSc/PhD in computer science, data science or related discipline with 13-15 years of industry experience with 8+ years of hands-on technical development experience
