The Hivemind Solutions team is responsible for applying our AI reference pilot to a variety of complex customer use cases. As an Autonomy Engineer, you will be responsible for integrating the Shield AI reference pilot onto various aerial platforms. You will develop and tailor autonomous behaviors to fit the customer need. You will be responsible for interacting with Hivemind Test teams to test, analyze, and ensure autonomous behaviors meet requirements and assist with flight testing and deployment.

What You'll Do:

  • Participate in the development of autonomy solutions, tailoring the AI reference pilot to specific platforms and use cases for our customers. Utilize your background in autonomy and mission CONOPs to ensure a robust and reliable solution.
  • Focus on the implementation of tasks and behaviors to enable multi-agent collaborative behaviors that adapt to their changing environment.
  • Participate in the evaluation and analysis of autonomy solutions - rigorously test your solutions using our simulation & analytics framework, working with our Hivemind Test teams to identify and correct issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or similar degree 
  • 5+ years of applied industry experience in the fields of robotics/autonomy development with a Bachelor’s degree; or 4 years and a Master’s degree; or 2 years with a PhD; or equivalent work experience.
  • Familiar with Unix environments 
  • Strong C++ development experience in a Linux environment 
  • Demonstrated ability working in large groups (10+), working in shared codebases 
  • Use of git source code management 
  • Experience with software engineering process concepts such as CI/CD 
  • Experience with containerization tools such as Docker 
  • Ability to work independently in a team-based environment 
  • Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance 
  • Willing to work/relocate to the DC metroplex

Preferred qualifications:

  • Active Secret Clearance or higher 
  • MS or greater in computer science, aerospace/mechanical engineering, or equivalent degree/experience 
  • Experience in multi-agent coordination and behaviors 
  • Experience in DoD specific technologies related to autonomous aircraft and mission relevant environments
