TELEFONICA RESEARCH
Telefonica Research is a leading industrial research lab based in Barcelona (Spain). The aim of the lab is to carry out disruptive research that addresses several technological areas of interest to the Telefónica Group. The Scientific Research group follows an open research model in collaboration with universities and other research institutions, promoting the dissemination of their work both through publications and technology transfers. The lab consists of a multi-disciplinary team with a wide ambit of expertise, including Machile Learning, Networks, Complex Systems, Privacy/Security, Inforation Retrieval, Cognitive Science and Human-Computer Interaction. We are seeking candidates at all levels of seniority for staff researcher positions, to strengthen our efforts in the respective areas.
Mission
The researcher will have the opportunity to propose and develop research ideas individually, as well as jointly with members of the research team, and Telefonica at large. The researcher will also strengthen their research profile via the creation and leading of high-value synergies with academic institutions, industrial partners, customers, and government agencies. Furthermore, the researcher will support the dissemination of research results by means of high-quality publications and talks in major venues worldwide, generation of intellectual property, and partnership with business units to ensure the successful exploitation of research outputs.
Project-specific responsabilities
Design plan and execute in a timely manner lab-based, controlled experiments for data acquisition and sub-sequent analysis
Generic responsabilities
Propose and develop disruptive research idea for advancing the state of the art in the respective field of their expertise.
Create and lead of long-lasting and high-value synergies with academic institutions, industrial partners, customers, and government agencies.
Promote the dissemination of research results via high-quality publications and demonstrations in major venues worldwide.
Generate intellectual property.
Partner with business (and other Telefonica) units to ensure the successful exploitation of research outputs.
Supervise interns and collaborate openly with other researchers, as well other Telefonica employees.
Pursue funding opportunities for personnel and/or equipment and/or research visits, via proposal writing and submission for National and/or European and/or International competitive grants.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Computational Neuroscience, Computational Psychology, Physics, or any related fields.
Strong knowledge and experience for research in the area of Machine Learning (with a specialization in Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning)
Strong knowledge and experience for research with tools (e.g., methodologies, software, testbeds, models, etc.) related to the above areas.
Strong knowledge and experience with controlled experimentation methods and neuro-physiological signal processing (EEG, fNIRS, GSR, EMG, HR), as well as user studies (online and offline), A/B testing and self-report methods.
Proven track of strong research output (e.g., publications, patents).
Strong verbal, visual, and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a highly dynamic and interdisciplinary environment.
