Job Summary
As a Prompt Engineer - Gen AI, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and reviewing engaging and informative prompts for various tasks and domains. You will work in a creative and dynamic environment, using the latest natural language processing, Generative AI technologies and best practices. You will work with business and IT teams to build prompts and improve and optimize prompt performance. You will directly collaborate with product developers, Generative AI engineers, data engineers, business experts and function leads to develop and enhance prompts that satisfy the requirements of customers and end users.

This position will be based onsite at Vertiv's Westerville, OH - HQ location.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, edit, and review prompts for various tasks such as text, image or video generation, summarization, sentiment analysis and data analysis, to interact effectively with generative AI models, ensuring high-quality, relevant, and contextually accurate outputs.
  • Follow prompt engineering best practices such as Few Shot Prompting and Chain of Thought Prompting, and standards, including prompt quality, prompt testing, prompt documentation, and prompt optimization.
  • Collaborate with other prompt engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver prompt solutions that meet user needs and expectations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve prompt issues and defects.
  • Utilize prompt practices that promote responsible and ethical AI and help mitigate risk of biases in Gen AI model responses.
  • Research new prompt techniques and tools to enhance skills and improve prompt quality.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a quantitative major or one related to language models (linguistics, philosophy, etc.).
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more natural language processing and generation technologies, such as OpenAI GPT-4, Meta Llama2, or Hugging Face Transformers.
  • Proficiency in Python programming language.
  • Experience with prompt development frameworks and tools, such as OpenAI Playground, Google Colab, or Hugging Face Spaces.
  • Familiarity with Large Language Model (“LLM”) evaluation metrics (BLUE, ROUGE, etc.) and statistics.
  • Thorough understanding of Generative AI architectures (e.g., Retrieval Augmented Generation) and machine learning.
  • Strong knowledge of natural language processing and generation principles and concepts, such as language models, tokenization, attention, and decoding.
  • Excellent communication, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
  • Preferred Requirements:
    • Experience with web development frameworks and technologies, such as React, Angular, Flask, or Django.
    • Experience with testing frameworks and tools, such as PyTest, Unittest, or Selenium.
    • Experience with DevOps practices and tools, such as CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, or Jenkins.
    • Certifications or degrees in natural language processing, computer science, or related fields.
