The Intelligence and Investigations (I2) team seeks to rapidly detect and disrupt abuse in AI and generative AI technologies to ensure their safe use. We are dedicated to identifying emerging abuse trends, analyzing risks, and working with our internal partners to implement effective mitigation strategies to protect against misuse. Our efforts contribute to OpenAI’s overarching goal of developing AI that benefits humanity.
About the Role
As a Product Manager focusing on safety offerings of the I2 team, you will play a crucial role in shaping and expanding our AI safety intelligence services. This includes overseeing the development and implementation of solutions that monitor, detect, and mitigate AI abuse. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and client success, to ensure that our products meet market needs and provide unparalleled safety insights.
We’re looking for people who combine strong product management skills with a deep understanding of AI technologies and a passion for promoting AI safety. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively collaborate with diverse technical and business teams, possess excellent problem-solving abilities, and have a track record of successfully bringing products to market.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.
In this role, you will:
Define and execute the product safety roadmap of I2.
Collaborate with engineering and data science teams to develop and enhance safety monitoring, assessment, and intelligence products.
Engage with clients to gather feedback, understand their needs, and tailor solutions to address specific AI safety challenges.
Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for product improvement and innovation.
Ensure that safety offerings comply with relevant regulations and industry standards for AI safety.
Communicate product vision and strategy to stakeholders, including senior leadership and external partners.
