We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated NLP Engineer to join our Contract and Content Analytics team. As an NLP Engineer, you will be responsible for exploring, experimenting with, and evaluating emerging Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies, specifically focusing on Large Language Models and Generative AI, for various insurance use cases. Your role will involve leveraging cutting-edge NLP techniques to extract valuable insights from insurance contracts and documents. You will work closely with the Product Owner and other stakeholders to develop innovative solutions that enhance our contract analytics capabilities. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Research and Development: Stay up to date with the latest advancements in NLP, specifically Large Language Models and Generative AI, and explore their potential applications in the insurance domain. 
  • Use Case specification: Collaborate with domain experts and other product owners to define relevant use cases and propose creative application of new technology to those use cases 
  • Experimentation and Evaluation: Design, develop, and implement experiments to evaluate the performance of different NLP models and techniques for insurance use cases, including contract analysis, risk assessment, and entity extraction. 
  • Model Development: Develop and refine NLP models, algorithms, and pipelines to handle large volumes of insurance contracts and documents, ensuring accuracy, scalability, and efficiency. 
  • Data Preprocessing: Work on data preprocessing tasks such as text cleaning, normalization, tokenization, and feature engineering to improve the quality of input data for NLP models. 
  • Model Training and Optimization: Train, fine-tune, and optimize NLP models using large-scale datasets, ensuring they meet the requirements of insurance use cases, such as entity extraction, sentiment analysis, and topic modeling. 
  • Performance Evaluation: Establish appropriate metrics and evaluation frameworks to assess the performance and effectiveness of NLP models and techniques, providing insights and recommendations for improvement. 
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and domain experts, to integrate NLP solutions into existing systems and applications. Communicate technical concepts and findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document experiments, methodologies, and findings in a clear and concise manner. Prepare reports, presentations, and technical documentation to share insights and progress with the team and management. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, or a related field. 
  • Solid understanding of Natural Language Processing techniques, including text classification, named entity recognition, information extraction, and sentiment analysis. 
  • Experience working with Large Language Models, such as GPT-3, GPT-4, or similar architectures. 
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in NLP, such as Python, and libraries/frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or spaCy. 
  • Familiarity with data preprocessing techniques for NLP tasks, including tokenization, stemming, and text normalization. 
  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and statistical techniques, their limitations and implementation challenges 
  • Experience with cloud platforms and distributed computing environments for NLP tasks, such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Previous experience in the insurance industry or working with insurance-related data is a plus.
